COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION Cask; Special (Gold Medal Ale series) - December 2006. Tom King ‘the fighting sailor’ became the first official Heavyweight Champion of the World on 20th December 1863 after defeating the American fighter John C Heenan at Cockmouth Farm, East Sussex. Heenan relied on brawn and wrestling, but King using skill and pugilistic science won the bout in the 24th round almost unscathed. King fought very selectively after that and he retired after successfully defending his title to make a fortune as a bookmaker before marrying the daughter of a wealthy ship owner. Colour: Golden Hops: Target & Santiam
