Clear brown colour. Very malty beer with a light sweetness. Very smooth and creamy.

1/2 at Wetherspoons Gateshead’ Clear amber with a white head. nutty aroma, nutty egg custard flavour. Hop bitterness was intrusive at the end. A bit ho-hum.

Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Scmall, creamy-bubbly white head, lasting with some lace and a golden orange body. Biscuity malts & a presiding metallic overtone in the aroma until it warmed at which point citrus notes came through, slightly redeeming it overall. Some metal on the tongue too with an earthy, yeastiness and some backing citrus. Finishes bittwesweet with a short length. Softish body and light to medium carbonation.

Cask, Francis newton. Golden, creamy head. Slightly spicy aroma. Balanced with a peppery bitterness on the finish.

Cask, The Last Plantagenet (JDW), Leicester. Bright gold with a Gillette collar and lace frills. Sourish, mineral aroma leaning towards egg. Flavour has notes of pastry, nutmeg and drain with a hint of peel and a clean vanilla linger. OK.

Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20081229]

Cask at Banker’s Draft (JDW), Bedford. Bright coppery gold with a white head. Sweet malt aroma reminiscent of orange marmalade. Rather a restrained malty taste and a sharp lingering bitter finish. I rather liked it, even though it’s over two weeks after Christmas.

Nice amber pint, taste is pleasant and balanced hops, with a little spice and straw, nice medium bitter finish. Good.
