COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special (Gold Medal Ale series) - January 2009.

Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the ’greats’ of history. This month’s story :-
Tannant William Edgeworth David, Welsh born Australian and Antarctic explorer, became a legend in his own lifetime for, amongst other things, leading the first expedition to the South Magnetic Pole. As part of Shackleton’s aborted Nimrod expedition to the geographical South Pole, David and two companions reached the magnetic pole on 16th January 1909. He followed this with a distinguished war career followed by an academic one as a professor of geology and a knight of the realm in his adopted Australia.

Cask, Derby Winter Fest 09. Amber gold with a large off-white foam. Aromas are low malts with peppery, earthy hops. Grapefruit and lemon. Flavours are lemon with woody, dry malts. Biscuit with peppery notes and bitter grapefruit. Burtonesque sulphur with a long aftertaste. Good.
