maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Jan 9, 2007 Cask conditioned - handpump - Derby Winterfest 07. A copper coloured beer. The aroma has alcohol in abundance together with cream. It is quite sweet in the nose and almost sickly. The taste is thick and smooth. It is fruity and alcoholic. Touches of vanilla and very tasty. Just need to improve the nose. ChristianSA (368), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 18, 2006 Bottle. Bright nut-brown. No head. Taste and aroma is of old beer - meaning portwine, wet paper, cellar and some slight caramel. Flavor is quite thin and a bit watery with a light finishing bitterness. No carbonation at all
I had a Carlsberg Easter brew from 1964 the other day and it was pretty much the same flavor. If you’re into old beer this may be for you, but I must admit that I prefer my beer fresh. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England May 7, 2006 Cask Conditioned at the Royal Standard, Wooburn Common. Pale copper colour. Alcoholic, fruity and sweet aroma. Flavour is sweet fruit, syrupy with lots of alcohol upfront. Notes of raisin, plum and a hot alcohol finish. Drinks extremely easy for a beer of it’s alcohol content. Quite amazing beer, almost perfect for me. Miksu (2187), Jyväskylä, Finland Apr 15, 2006 Cask at Helsinki beer festival 2006. Copper color. Oily and thick aroma with toffee and tropical fruit marmelade. Heavy, bitter-sweet flavor and finish with fruity marmelade. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Apr 11, 2006 Cask. Dark golden colour, not much head. Alcohol, fruit and berries in aroma. Strong alcohol and fruit in flavour. Quite extreme for being a cask ale, but then again very pleasant. Good beer to have if you sit down and have a chat with friends. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Apr 9, 2006 Cask@HBF2006
Copper-golden color, small off-white head. Slightly alcoholic, berry-like aroma. Sweetish, even sugary ale with fruity notes. Very long, alcoholic bitter aftertaste. Berry also there. Cask ale to sip, slowly. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Apr 9, 2006 (Cask@HBF2006) Slightly hazy amber with a small, big-bubbly head. Fruity, slightly alcoholic aroma with toffee hints. Fruity, sweetish, grainy-malty, slightly alcoholic and acidic flavor. Medium-bodied, quite carbonated palate with somewhat burning alcohol. A reasonably tasty, but alcoholic ale. Too strong for the body. RichardGretton (3128), Leicestershire, England Feb 5, 2006 Cask@Burton Winter Beer Festival 2006. Amber beer with a malty and winey aroma, and a rich, sweet and dry flavour. Overall a plain strong ale.
