Gravity, Merton BF. Gold with a small fine layer of white. Quite a bit of sulfur, some caramel aroma. Feels like there is something pretty under there, but the barny thing is kind of in the way. Rich rustic corn flour malt. Very delicate and smooth. How could there be 10% abv in here? Unfortunate aromas distract from an otherwise rather drinkable barleywine. (Looks from Glenn’s notes that the aroma must have mellowed a bit by Saturday. Ah well.)

Cask @ Brick Store Pub. Big sweet fruit aroma, with a bit of pepper, and a lot of alcohol. Flavor was moderately bitter and hot, with some toffee...enjoyable on cask until the end which was a weird metallic finish.

Cask at the Chelsea Pier Cask Ale festival. The aroma had a wierd metallic quality, along with some malty sweetness. The color was a brownish yellow, usually pale for an Old Ale or a Barley Wine, white head. The flavor has a malty, fruity quality, with some alcohol coming through. The finish is sweet, with very light hops noticeable. Not bad overall.

Handpullled cask at Watford beer fest. Copper coloured beer. The aroma has alcohol in abundance together with cream. It is quite sweet in the nose and almost sickly. The taste is thick and smooth. It is fruity and alcoholic. Touches of vanilla and very tasty.

On cask at Max’s In Baltimore. Poured a nice orange golden color with a frothy thick white head. Aroma was fruit, peaches, nectarines, a little citrus as well as some light caramel. Flavor was more peaches and light fruit. Alcohol was pretty strong in this one. Pretty nice beer.

This beer tastes flat. I couldn’t taste any carbonation in it whatsoever. The malt is very fruity, almost cidery, and the aftertaste is a blast of alcohol flavor. Warming, but powerful.

Cask at Twickenham Beer Festival 2007. Pours red copper colou. Small bubbly head. Nose of toffee and caramel. Some malt and hops. Sweet, sticky and hoppy and finishes quite bitter. Alcohol burn. Quite complex.
