Pours deep mahogony with abundant being froth and matching belgian style lace. Plum and raisins fill the nose. Burnt malts accompany and are folowed by tin and sulfur. I’m told the water in Burton-on-Trent is sulfuric, and so this may be the reason. Sweet and fruity, very full malt flavours are nice, but are followed with a marked metallic and mineral presence. FInish is fruity, slightly thin. The tin gets in the way of this one. It’s good, but minus the tim, it would be very good. Thanks Harry! Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Bottle from Beers of Europe. It’s very rare to see a Belgian style beer brewed in the UK, so I was certainly looking forward to trying this one. It pours a darkish, brown colour. The aroma is malty and yeasty with plenty of dark fruits. Apparent alcohol in the taste, bready malts and lots of fruit. Not the best example of the style but always good to see a British brewer trying new things. Magicdave6 (5490), London, Greater London, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Aroma gives darkish fruits, with nutes and sweetness coming off the malts. Taste is also fruity, however the yeast, which seems to have an effect on all the burton ales, doesnt compliment the bittering hops as well as it could maybe and leaves a slightly bad taste in the mouth.
