Bottled:
Fruity (plums), light sweet and alcoholic aroma. Hazy reddish color, stiff frothy, light brown head. Sweet malty flavor, light fruity sourly. Notes of cherries, raisins and rum-plums. Roasted malt components, coffe flavor, dry and bitter finish. Strong, complex and very nice fruity beer. A pleasant birthday drink for me.

Bottle shared with Blankboy and HogTown Harry at Smokeless. Dark murky brown, small tan head - looks great. Dark caramel malt aroma - subtle but nice. Very rich caramel taste, alcohol is masked well. Does become quite strong as it warms. This reminded me of a 2004 Fullers Vintage a bit. Some hops at the end make this a very dry, simple, but ultimately tasty beer - most beers like this may have a tendency to become syrupy but not here. An Abbey Dubbel??? ok.....

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev at Smokeless Joe. Pours a cloudy orangey-brown with a small light-brown head. Very mild aroma of caramel malt, yeast, fruit and wood. Delicious flavour follows the aroma along with some alcohol. Complex and medium bodied. Reminds me of a milder Fullers Vintage Ale. This would be even better aged for a few years. As it is it’s really good.

Bottle (500ml). At Smokeless Joe, shared with blankboy and tupalev. Poured murky orange-amber brown with a decent diminishing tan head. Tons of rich creamy malt in the aroma, woody, candyish. Taste follows nose but a surprising surfeit of hops and alcohol bitterness, finishes remarkably bitter, but there’s an apple character that emerges with warming. Mouthfeel very thick and creamy for this style, good complexity. Overall very nice, would like to cellar half a dozen bottles and see how it ages - I was a bit sorry the promise of malt in the aroma was buried by the attack of hops and alcohol, but overall an excellent offering.

Yeast, mashed fruit and spice. Dark cloudy brown with a large head the compresses down fairly fast. Sweet aroma of pairs, apples, hay, grass and some mild vegetal flavors.

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy, dark orangey golden with a fine, small, creamy, beige coloured head. Aroma of yeast and alcohol. Sweetish flavours of caramel and overripe plums. Distinct, warming alcohol and a slightly sour edge in the finish. Interesting brew. 040805

this one went everywhere. i sat there looking at it geysering out for a sec before motelpogo pointed out a handily placed empty glass to catch it in. aroma was a bit odd - fruity/estery, but with a funny celery/acetaldehyde smell. taste is full bodied, round and plummy, with some deep earthy hops in finish - it wasn’t as bretty/sour as i was expecting, more like a standard english strong with some extra stonefruit.thanks duff!
