duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Jun 28, 2004 Bottle. Oldschool flavour. Has that Orvalish cosmetic, yeasty, farmyardy, dry orange peel type flavour, but is couple with with some toffee apple and caramel/chocolate. Dry, salty finish, medium bitter, but finishes quite dry. Funky and fun, reminded me of one of eczematics homebrews. RobBestwick (555), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England May 14, 2003 strong malty and toffee like aroma, cloudy brown hue with a good brown head, malty with toffee notes, strong alcohol tones, glossy palate, this is a classic bottle conditioned sample, an excellent warmer. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Jul 26, 2004 Updated: Sep 13, 2004Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spirits, Birmingham. Pineapple aroma, perhaps some fruit salad flavour Chewits too - yummy! Ruby brown colour, with a massive fluffy head. Surprisingly light and fragrant, dewey in the mouth. Some strength in the finish. A unity of flavour - rose/grape with heavy malt and cognac tang. Quietly menacing, tasty and satisfying. Well worth checking out again. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 28, 2004 Updated: Apr 1, 2004I love these burton beers. deep orangey colour with a foamy white head. flowery yeast, fruit, spicey anise and caramel aroma. flavour follows with some berry-ish and hard candy notes. big alcohol really tickles the brain. lots of fun.
