COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special (Gold Medal Ale series) - March 2009.

Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the ’greats’ of history. This month’s story :-
In March 1920, a British soldier, who had enlisted as a private in 1877, became a Field Marshall. Of humble Lincolnshire stock, William (Wully) Robertson, distinguished himself with his clear thinking and a gift for languages. He rose through the ranks as he soldiered throughout the Empire. World War I saw him as a friend to King George IV and an opponent of Lloyd George’s policies. Vindicated by events, he reached the highest rank in his service, giving rise to the saying ’In every private’s knapsack is a Field Marshall’s baton’

Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Orangey red, healthy head. Dry hoppy aroma, caramelly too. Full-bodied earthy barky taste, some must and mushroom. Pretty brown. Some saltiness - liquorice. Finish is dry and earthy, perhaps hoppy, and certainly long. Not exceptional, but very full in each component.

Miksu (4012) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - APR 12, 2009
Cask at Salhojankadun Pub, Tampere. Amber color. Sweetish, fruity, caramelly, nutty and toffeish aroma. Mellow fruity and caramelly flavor with some nutty and oaky notes. This pint was in very good condition. Very balanced and drinkable with nice mix of caramel, fruits and nuts.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Another in the interminable monthly series of Gold Medal Ales. This is amber with a small white head. Faint malt aroma. Pleasant earthy malt flavour. Some bitterness. Decent enough undemanding pint, as you expect from this series.
