First tasted this bitter at the Hogshead, Paisley in October 1996. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear orange amber in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight hint of berry fruit in the malty aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Digestive biscuit malt base leads to a rich buttery caramel note with raisin fruit. Hop flowers give a dusty resin aftertaste which then leads to a bitter sweet finish. An ok session bitter that is quite flavoursome despite the low og.

June, 2007Royal Oak Hotel, Penrhyn Served with swan neck sparkler. Chocolate/coffee flavour with hop pellet bitterness. Hops are crude and salty. Pepper burn on the edge of the tongue from the bitterness. Beer is drinkable, but it’s a cheap tasting recipe.

Couldn’t get a Welsh beer whilst in Wales had to settle for this gem (only in Wales for less than 1/2 an hour though) Straight forward bitter, nothing really standing out, lasting head was main feature, reddy amber body, hints of caramel and hops.
