cyrenaica (252), Milton, Ontario, Canada May 12, 2008 473ml can
4.7% ABV
Brewed in Canada by Interbrew’s Labatt division
I tried this beer on May 12, 2008 after purchasing from one of the local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a translucent gold with a generous white fluffy head that didn’t last. The aroma is grassy malts with some hoppy hints. The mouthfeel is thin bodied, but not totally watery. There is a dryness in the mouthfeel. The flavour is almost non-existent.
PhillyBeer2112 (1814), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2008 I bought some for cheap beer additive for cooking. It damn near ruined my chili! Smelled of beery soda water, sulfur. Grainy, thin, sulfuric. Pretty awful. Not straw but a light golden color. Butters (263), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2008 Pours a clear pale yellow with thin white head. Smells offensively grainy. Corny and buttery flavor. Thin body with moderate carbonation. bad finish. But it is only 60cents per can. Nik925 (49), California, USA Jul 9, 2008 The cheapest beer at safeway, comming in at 5.4 cents per ounce (cheaper than most malt liquors). 50% cheaper than MGD. To be able to rate beer you have to taste the extremes. This isn’t that bad if you want bad 7-Up that will get you drunk eventually.
Back to rating, it hides its 4.6% alcohol behind the weird metallic unsafe to drink mountain water taste. GREAT carbonation! It is what you expect it to be. Its also 1/3 the cost of good beer...so does good beer taste 3 times better? YES!
BTW, the can says " Smooth as its name" I dont think of smoothness when I think of bushes....????!?!?!??? SN11 (49), USA Jul 3, 2008 What is there really to say? If you’ve tasted one american macrobrew, you tasted them all. Not much difference here. Very light malts and hops, high carbonation. Take it for what it is and don’t expect more. Ron (695), Rochester, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 The usual pale yellow macro beer look and aroma of corn. Week corn taste. You would only drink this if there was nothing else to drink.
