1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 31, 2007
[478-20070730] 355mL. Musty wheat and burnt straw aroma. Clear, pale yellow body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Wheaty flavour is mildly fruit and has a rather annoying aftertaste. Light body. Aside from the aroma and aftertaste, this would be a great refreshing light beer choice -- my low expectations were raised a small notch.

A weak, watery attempt at a beer. Pours yellow with lots of head. The smell is nauseating. Same for most American Standards. Very easy to drink. Little taste and easy on the palate. Little to no aftertaste either. Only tolerable when ice cold. Do not attempt otherwise!

No aroma - better than skunky - micro-second lasting white-fizzy head. Almost clear appearance. Not much taste at all - but not a bad aftertaste like Natty Light and does not have that day old frat house smell to it like its full-bodied counterpart Busch. If I was forced to drink a light beer by my doctor and only had $3.50 to spend on a six I would drink this.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Leighton (4095) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2010
Can. Pours a clear yellow, pale, with bubbly head that retreats quickly. Nose of metal, straw, some sugar and corn. Similar flavor, with slight hints of breadiness. Light in body and highly carbonated. Crisp. Very short finish with just the faintest hints of hops. As long as its cold it is somewhat refreshing. Don’t let it warm up.

(24oz can, labeled "Texas Busch Light", courtesy of zdk9) clear pale yellow, lasting ring and film of white bubbles. Nose of sweat, lager, a bit earthy. Taste of seltzer water, thin medium body. Nothing here at all. Kind of nasty actually.

It’s beer but it blows. Honestly, there is no way all of this carbonation is natural. It is definitely added artificially to piss poor rice beer. This is made with I would guess 70% rice. Tastes like sweet malt water carbonated like a Coke and then becomes a laxative from all of the rice. Disgusting. Good for shotgunning, spraying around the room, and beer pong.

Dare I say the highlight of this adjunct lager laden haul?
A: The pour is pale yellow, like pretty much all light lagers. The head is white, like pretty much all light lagers.
S: Sweet adjuncty goodness here. Corn and apple juice define the nose and this one is just all sweetness and nothing else.
T: Grain, corn, apple juice, and sugar. No real bitterness at all, but no offensive skunk or urine character either. A winner, indeed.
M: The body is light, as you might expect, with a pretty lively carbonation.
D: While this was the winner of the evening, this was a Dairy Challenge situation (where there are no winners). I don’t think I’ll be rushing out to buy any more Busch Light.

Can. Pours yellow with a white head. Smells like old wet moldy cheerios. Watery body. Weird grainy and metallic flavor. Pretty awful.

Crappy American macros like this are why I didn’t like beer in undergrad... corn, apples, vomit, and so many other bad flavors. One store I worked at in Cedar Falls, IA used to have a sign that said "PROUDLY BREWED WITH IOWA CORN." HAH!

Pours with a bit of color and leaves the tiniest white head. Smells like weak amount of grain--a covered silo from a few miles away. Tastes like a bit of grain but mostly husk. Flavor is almost immediately washed away by the excess carbonation. It’s like they don’t want you to taste it. Unusual. Drinks like carbonated water with some cardboard and old rice.
