Fairly strong bitter hops in the flavor, with a somewhat syrupy sweet malt to balance it. Noticeable alcohol. Decent, but admittedly I prefer double style Belgian ales. dnstone (287), Mons, Belgium

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Poured a clear red/orange with a small off white head. Aroma and taste is a mix of alcohol, caramel and malt. The taste stays with you along with a moderate bitterness. Mild carbonation that doesn’t distract. Overall I liked it but I doubt I will buy another as I thought it was too blunt. I have had many other better Belgium ales... but glad I tried it once. A thick brew that lingers in the mouth after a sip. Definitely tastes like Belgian Ale. A little sweeter than the Rocheforte Trappistes brew but very nice. I would buy this again. My only problem with it is the small bottles. I would have liked to get second helping without having to crack open a second bottle. dtborelli (10), California, USA

Smooth, sweet aroma with little to no alcohol smell. Some woody aromas with non descript fruitiness. Alcohol smell becomes more present as the beer warms. Pours a medium amber color with little head slight haziness. Lots of carbonation on the inside of the glass a la champagne. Slightly oily mouthfeel at first then broken up by the bubbly. Smooth taste with the alcohol present, but hidden if that makes any sense. Subtle sweet with a mild Belgian funkiness. Super yummy and easy to drink. Dangerous with the high ABV. Would drink again and be enthusiastic about it.

Aroma is fruit, malts, brown sugar and spice. Flavour is sweet malts, caramel and dark sugars. Alcohol is quite potent. Long, powerful finish. Almost like a cognac...
