Commercial Description:
It was created in 1933 by Alfred Dubuisson, grand-father of the present family brewer, Hugues. Its former name was "Bush Beer 24°" (the density in Ballings), but today it is known as Bush Amber. Its amber colour is due to the use of caramel malt in the production process. Its bitter sweet taste provides it with firmness and personality. What's more, it helps digestion.

The aroma was evolving as it warmed in the glass, by the end it was burned caramel. Another muddy brown colored beer, with lots of precipitate in it. The head was off white, but it didn’t last very long. Initially, I thought the flavor was apples and grapefruit, as it warmed I was getting more cherry from it. Unfortunately, I don’t think this was particularly well balance, I was getting a little bit of an alcohol burn off of it, just enough to be off putting. We’ll see if it helps the digestion, I’m living somewhere that should challenge that claim.

Aroma of light malt and light stone fruit. Nice orangey amber color with a white head that ringed and died. Medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavor is caramel sweet with light stone fruit aspects. Then bitter, citrus, arises, along with subtle spicey notes. Some heat becomes noticeable, but the alcohol does not interfere with the flavor. The finish is rather dry, and the hop bitter dominates. Kind of astringent. Good sipper.

On draft as "Scaldis" at Sunset Grill in Allston, MA. Pours a medium copper with no head or carbonation. Delicate aroma. Rather sweet, but not overpoweringly so. The sweetness feels like it hits the roof of the mouth more than on the tongue. (Not sure if that’s physically possible...) The aftertaste doesn’t develop any differently from the upfront sweetness. This one didn’t really do it for me.

This beer had an orange color with a minor head. It had an aroma of citrus and hops. you could really taste the woody flavors in it which was nice. it had nice dried fruit flavors which was very appealing.

This one drinks much like an appartif and is reminiscent of a cask-matured scotch. Behind the obvious candied fruit and caramel malt, there are notes of eathy peat, wood, and toffee. The flavour is full and and the mouthfeel is slick, soft and round. The flavour is bittersweet and very scotch-like with dried fruits and a very mild hop prescence. The finish is long and sticky. Awesome after dinner beer.

(Bottle, best before 21/06/06) Pours hazy reddish amber with a creamy white head. Creamy malt aroma with a touch of caramel. Also notes of dried fruits, grainy bread and earth. Undertones of spices, sugar and maybe a light, sweet fruitiness. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with tones of dried fruits, sweet bread syrup and some hints of hops. Creamy, soft and round mouthfeel. Near full body. A bit too sweet with a lingering sugary aftertaste. Both the aroma and the flavour are a bit too sweet for me but otherwise this is a rather tasty beer.

Bottled. Few years old? Cloudy amber colour. Average sized head. Raisiny aroma with loads of dried fruits. Sweet and syrupy mouthfeel, yet not awfully big in body. Mellow mouthfeel.
