It was created in 1933 by Alfred Dubuisson, grand-father of the present family brewer, Hugues. Its former name was "Bush Beer 24°" (the density in Ballings), but today it is known as Bush Amber. Its amber colour is due to the use of caramel malt in the production process. Its bitter sweet taste provides it with firmness and personality. What's more, it helps digestion.

Bottle - Clear amber colour, medium sized off-white head, good retention and lacing. Sweet malty and boozy aromas, some caramel, raisins, brandy, bubble gum. Taste is sweet, caramel, some nuts, orange, banana, dried fruits. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, oily texture, sweet boozy finish. A classic belgian strong ale, nice but not awesome.

Pours an average size foamy bubbly off-white head but dissipates to a thin coating. Has a clear golden amber appearance. Fairly excessive carbonation. Aromas of light toasty and caramel malts. Flavours of barley malts, toasted malts, caramel. Has a bit of a sweet/bitter finish. Astringent mouthfeel. The alcohol is somewhat noticeable but much more once it warms up.

Boozy aroma of sweet malts, bubblegum, banana, hay, bread earth. Taste has much of the same character. Overall quite sweet and boozy, but with enough bitterness from being too sweet for the style. The high alcohol content is certainly noticeable but not unpleasant. I am happy with it mostly because it is a style not frequently available in the local LCBO.

330 ml bottle. Bought in La mise en biere in Lausanne. Amber color with white head, beautifull. Smell is very plain and boring, almost like a lager, not at all like what you expect from a Belgium classic, feel some bubblegum and caramel, but very soft. Taste doesn’t fail though, very complex and full of details, like the very elegant ending it has. Don’t make the same mistake i did, i had it too cold and I cannot feel it all, but it’s an excelent beer.

Light amber gold. Big boozy malts on the nose. Big beer. Like a good barley wine it balances some fruity malty notes with a dallop of booziness. Finish is dry, oranges, nutty, boozy, but not out of balance. A nice night cap.

375ml bottle from the lcbo. Pours a crystal clear copper/caramel with a bubbly head that fades to a ring quickly. Aroma has lots of dark fruits, caramel, hints of a woody oaky vanilla, spice, bubble gum, and dark candy sugar. Taste is a touch sweet but not cloying. Dark candy sugar, caramel, dark fruits, bit of alcohol from the 11.8%, and a drawn out, warm dark fruits ending. Medium-full body with a medium-high carbonation. A touch syrupy in the mouth with a lively mouth feel and a dry finish. Overall a nice beer. Lots of dark caramel, candy sugar, and a alcohol warmth. BB 15/06/2017.

Pure Belgium beer candy. Rock candy, summer fair apples, & ripe fruit. Booze is higher than a kite but goes down smoother than creepy 70s blue eyed soul.
