This is a sweet beer with a pleasant flavour of hops. Indeed, for Bush de Noel, the brewer uses a traditional process which consists in placing hops flowers in the vats where the beer rests for four to six weeks by which time it will have reached full maturity, giving it a very distinctive taste. In the U.S the label generally reads Scaldis Noel.

I had imagined a rich taste like abt from the height of the alcohol, but it ended in Katasukashi. Taste stronger acidity of alcohol along with the feeling come on and a mouth. Itís high alcohol but drink clue. But my feeling was something unsatisfactory.

Bottle. Pours ruby brown with khaki head. Aroma is quite nuanced - dough, strawberries, estery notes somewhere between bubblegum and bananas, just the slightest trace of floral hop resin. Flavor is robust and pungent - an implosion of alcohol, woodiness, vanilla, caramelized grain sugars, sticky residual sugars and a finish that is bitter with both alcohol bite and a modicum of hop flavor. This is a big winter beer for a Belgian brewery, even well-suited to colder climes - I love it and drinking it will be a new tradition for me in the frozen time of the year.

Chestnut brown, lots of floaty bits, like a snowglobe; thin off white head, quick to disappear; aroma is oddly sour; taste is sweet, tangy orange, cinnamon, spice, all slowly enveloped by a swell of alcoholic warmth; the power makes this feel unbalanced and unfortunately I found it nowhere near as toothsome as the ordinary Bush Ambree; my last beer of 2013 was thus a disappointment, if far from a total duffer.

Hmmmm tasty. Flavor of brown sugar, caramel, toffee...very rich. Definitely a sipping beer on a cold winters eve. Complex aroma of hops and pure sugar delight.

Bottle, courtesy of MiP. Pours hazy darkish amber with airy but stable beige head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit and caramel, with buttery notes. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, with distinct notes of fruit and alcohol, the latter giving a lasting burning sensation. Bittersweet finish. Nice and warming but rather demanding due to the high ABV.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2014 33cl in a Delirium Noel glass. This is my Christmas Eve beer and never disappoints. Pours a dark amber colour with a lovely whitish head. Aroma is sweetness and alcohol. Tastes of butterscotch and toffee with just the right amount of bitterness. Hard to beat this for what it is. Exemplary
