COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a sweet beer with a pleasant flavour of hops. Indeed, for Bush de Noel, the brewer uses a traditional process which consists in placing hops flowers in the vats where the beer rests for four to six weeks by which time it will have reached full maturity, giving it a very distinctive taste. In the U.S the label generally reads Scaldis Noel.

On tap at macGregor’s Henrietta. Sourish funky nose, along with cloves, smoke and spice. Appearance is orange, clear, very nice full retention, leaving no lace, full cling. Taste is similar to nose but with plenty of maramlade, and booze. This is quite outstanding.

2009 bottle bought in Belgium and stored, pours deep dark brown with very little head (and some trub - damn!), nose is sweetish with toasted candy sugar and old wine barrel, yet the body is dryish with peppery hop notes. There is a definite oaky vatted, almost Brett character, and while the candy sugar is there, the drying hops and alcohol keep it in check. Faint hints of orange, plus notes of caramel toffee and oak. A 2010 bottle is sweeter, still with those drying notes but the caramel rather more up-front, and almost (but not quite) cloying in the finish. Both beers good, and recognisably related.

Light brown/dark amber with medium off-white fastly disappearing head. Sweet, good sour touch on the mid-tongue and remaining bitterness on the root. Remaining sweetness also around the mouth.
