2011 version. Had in July 2013. Deeply spiced yet mellow through balance. The flavor is heavy but it was smooth and still calming. Bottle

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
"Pours a murky dark copper with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Tiny streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, and a mild earthy, spice (all faint) and booze. Flavor is all booze, some malts manage to squeak through here and there, but not enough. This beer has a fair level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall the alcohol is just too dominant it ruins all other aspects of the beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this in Belgium in 2007, rating only now. Thanks to Anja for receiving this for me as an award in a Svijet piva birthday party. Dark amber with small off-white head, oily structure. Alcohol, figs, dried fruits, sugar syrup aroma. Sweet and surprisingly light, not to sweet, though. Some alcohol finish, not to much. Really nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark amber color with modest foam head, gentle carbonation. A: quite an intense and robust aroma of red wine / porto, caramalized malts, cough syrup, fresh grass notes, boozy lacing. Yeast reveals caramel and hairspray notes. T: starts quite sweet but robust. Best guess is a very intense caramel flavor, mixed with autumn bock, cough syrup. Slowly starts to develop a slightly boozy mouthfeel, alcoholic warmth, much like a spirit. Nice build-up, with quite some spices, anise, cloves. Aftertaste is, surprisingly, relatively neutral, although the alcohol is clearly discernible on the back of the tongue and mouth. Has the same boozy quality as the other Bush beers, but with this one, it actually fits the purpose (Christmas) nicely.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. Several months ago. Rating forgotten in a notebook :) A sparkling brown orange beer with many beautiful hues ; medium white head with a poor retention. Fruity aroma (prune, pear?), caramel, spices. Medium sweet with a warming background. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation, warming background. Overall, powerful, fruity, sweet beer.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle. A lovely dark amber, even fruity red coloured beer, with a nice head. The appearance is very clear and shiny. The white or somehow beige foam makes way for the feable vivid liquid. The scents are subtle, too subtle, the taste fits the 12% alcohol promise - without relly being spiritlike. You can taste the malt, the sugar, the bitter throat. Well balanced, but never pronounced. A pitty, really. Thatís why the beer only has a medium body, good to enjoy. "The strongest Christmas Belgian beer", yet a longer ending would have made far more impression.
