This is a sweet beer with a pleasant flavour of hops. Indeed, for Bush de Noel, the brewer uses a traditional process which consists in placing hops flowers in the vats where the beer rests for four to six weeks by which time it will have reached full maturity, giving it a very distinctive taste. In the U.S the label generally reads Scaldis Noel.

(Thanks, Gene! "Travlr") Bottle. A- Fruit cake, caramel, spices, vinous, nutty, red wine, subtle apple. A- Murky brown color, cloudy liquid, minimal brown head. T- Tart green apples, butterscotch, subtle red wine. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent sour finish. O- Unfortunately, I think this had a bit of a quality issue. It was also of an unknown vintage. Smelled decent at first, but weakened as the head dissipated and had a definite tart apple taste and not much else. Also looked like nasty sewer water. Had a lot of excitement for this one, especially being my Christmas beer, but alas, it was not meant to be.

2007 keg. Muddy brown pour with copper hues. While cold, the nose is dirty diaper, garbage, tobacco, ash, holiday spices. Taste, unfortunately, is as smells, which makes it difficult to choke down until it opens up. Still some garbage on the nose after it warms, but mostly just ash. The taste becomes more concentrated on the tobacco and faint spices. Sticky medium mouthfeel.

Bottle from G&B, shared with the in-laws, Hammel, DK - Dark brown Amber pour with off-white head. Aroma and taste is sweet malty, with some caramel and brown sugar sweetness kicking in, some dark dried fruit, some Christmas spices, not a bad backup to the great premium version.

Bottle from Johnís. Muddy amber pour, almost not head. Rich spicy aroma. Flavors are malty, caramel, candy sweetness and spice, almost an anise-like quality. Rich beer. Yummy.
