This is a sweet beer with a pleasant flavour of hops. Indeed, for Bush de Noel, the brewer uses a traditional process which consists in placing hops flowers in the vats where the beer rests for four to six weeks by which time it will have reached full maturity, giving it a very distinctive taste. In the U.S the label generally reads Scaldis Noel.

Hmmmm tasty. Flavor of brown sugar, caramel, toffee...very rich. Definitely a sipping beer on a cold winters eve. Complex aroma of hops and pure sugar delight.

Bottle, courtesy of MiP. Pours hazy darkish amber with airy but stable beige head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit and caramel, with buttery notes. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, with distinct notes of fruit and alcohol, the latter giving a lasting burning sensation. Bittersweet finish. Nice and warming but rather demanding due to the high ABV.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2014 33cl in a Delirium Noel glass. This is my Christmas Eve beer and never disappoints. Pours a dark amber colour with a lovely whitish head. Aroma is sweetness and alcohol. Tastes of butterscotch and toffee with just the right amount of bitterness. Hard to beat this for what it is. Exemplary

Nose is cloves and spices with a little candy sugar. Suitably festive, but little of the underlying beer comes through. Taste is candy sugar sweet leading to honey, cherry, slight spice and a little pepper. As with standard bush, it wears itís alcohol poorly, with a vodka like note appearing near the finish. There is a surprising lack of depth to the flavour given the strength. A nicely spiced version of a poor beer.

33cl bottle. Clear, mahogany color, thin white head. Sweet aroma of dark fruits, vanilla, caramel and spices. Full body, medium Carbon. Flavor is complex with dark fruits, vanilla, cinnemon, caramel. Sweet long finish, warming alcohol, cinnamom. A litlle bit too much on the alcohol, no bitterness. N

From first sip I know this beer will be a meal in itself. Dark fruit, Belgian yeast, and that lingering alcohol burn run prevalent in this brew. Once you get a few sips down, it starts to go down more and more smooth. Then that 12% comes in for the sneak attack and my now cheeks are red.

Bottle, labelled Scaldis in Canada (though I canít recall the last time Iíve seen the American Busch). Pours amber, off-white head. Nose is sugars, alcohol, dark fruit, pepper. Flavour... well, Belgians have many flavour facets, this one takes the alcohol and sweetness and ratchets it up to eleven. Alright, but pretty out of whack for my tastes.

Pours a deep, dark amber color with a lingering white head. A yeasty fruitiness to the nose. Tastes of yeast, hops, and a sort of molasses hint.

25 cl bottle. No way to tell how old this is, but itís at least several years old. Pours a burnt darker orange amber color, with tons of big chunky yeast particles in the body. Thin off-white head, sort of khaki colored. Head soon fades to nothing. Dark fruit, light candy sugar in the nose. Mmm yes! Much better than expected. I was nervous about this going in, but itís definitely good. Nice robust dark fruit, fruit cake like flavor. Some spice, but not too spicy. Impressive bigger bitterness, hardly any sweet - not at all cloying like I feared it would be. Alcohol is impressively well hidden, just a very light pleasant warmth after the aftertaste. Not as soft and over carbonated as a lot of belgian sting ales can be, this one is crisp and smooth right from the start. More dry finish, and bigger body. Surprisingly easy to drink and smooth belgian strong ale. Good nice nuttiness, hint of chocolate malt. Nice light raisin, light spice, and complex dark fruit aroma. Much better than expected. Great winter warmer. One of the better belgian noel beers Iíve tried.
