Bottle. Nice head! After a good pour it settles and stays on as a thin layer of carbon frosting. Makes one think of decorated honningkager (honey cakes). Sweet malt and alcohol hits the nose with this one! Too much alcohol after my opinion. Also a little yeast. Flavour is caramel and alcohol - a veritable fitness workout: do you feel the burn?! Palate finishes quite nice. Overall a nice beer. I might wanna save the second bottle Iíve got, for a few years. It would probably go well with this one.

Bottle (250ml). Poured deep orange-amber with a decent foamy-creamy lasting head. Aroma of all sorts of candies and malt, spicy and even some evergreen resin - smells like Christmas! Taste is of licorice, ribbon candy, malt, tons of alcohol, scotch pine needles - really does remind me of Christmas as a kid. Mouthfeel very syrupy and sugary, long linger, starts candy-sweet and ends a bit bitter, long finish, very nice, glad it wasntí a big bottle!

Dark amber colour, off white head. Some sweet aroma, flowers. Full body, some malts. Bitter finish. The 12% is not really clear. A good beer.

A lovely dark amber color with a perfect appearance, in my opinion. Just the right carbonation level and looks lovely in my Gouden Carolus glass. For 12.5%, hardly noticeable alcohol. Very malty flavor profile, a little sticky, definite Belgian yeast strain flavor. A nice holiday winter warmer.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2005 Powerful. Nice inviting flavor and aroma. Dried apricots and citrusy bittering hops put up a nice facade as the 13% pushes its way through onto the palate to deliver the trademark warmth and body that this brewery always promises to deliver. Imagine biting into a brandy soaked fruit cake.

Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, thin, stable beige head; deep fruity and vinous nose with a tinge of barrique (hints of vanilla, wood etc.); very full vinous, fruity flavour; round, fruity, a bit brandy-like, malty (Banyuls-like) finish. Well rounded and very warming..................

If youíre looking for something thatís going to warm you up on a harshly bitter cold winter night, then look no further. This beer has some bite. Although not surprisingly sweet, it is hoppier than some other Belgian Strong Ales. This high level of hoppiness makes it a more rounded experience in that I didnít feel like I was sucking on a candi sugar-coated fig. I have to admit that when I quaffed this one, I had no idea of its 12% capacity and really didnít know how strong it was until I was later informed. Had I known, I probably would have taken it a little bit easier.

25 cl bottle. Pour was a deep amber with some copper highlights... lots of sediment suspended in there. Heavy dark fruity aroma with caramel, earth, and a little alcohol burn on the nose hairs!?! Berries and plums first in the flavor, followed by alcohol, caramel, and quite a substantial floral hop presence. Very full and tasty flavor. Smooth and malty palate, with some astringency and bitterness at the finish... also quite nicely warming. I very much enjoyed this one!

Medium whitish brown head. lasts a long time very foamy (not pillowy). Amber brown color. Bready nose. Very well blended alcohol and hops are bitter but into a malty sweetness. Has a touch of swiss cheese in the hops for bitterness. Warm.
