3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This 25cl bottle has been in my fridge for about two years, and I’ve been looking for the right occasion to drink it. Well, I’m not waiting anymore, and besides, it’s New Year’s Eve day. It pours an attractive golden amber color and I kept most of the chunks in the bottle. It generated a thin light biege head that lasted as whisps. The nose is mostly of over-ripe bananas, apricots and sweet candi sugar. Lots of alcohol noticable in this beer. Dried fruit (raisin, apricot, apple), burnt sugar, and a little hair spray in the finish. This beer definitley improves as it warms, and must be sipped. Wow, what a big beer, but seems a little harsh.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer has robust aroma consisting of a montage of scents. The noise can detect the fragrances of sweet vinegar, apricot, green apple, and a hint of strawberry in the background of this beer. It is a healthy copper colored fluid with a thick off-white head. The tongue is greeted with a sweet infusion consisting of apple, yeast, and butter but those flavors subside to the taste of apricot that lingers upon the palate after swallowing.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Strong raisins and alcohol in aroma. Flavour is very nice, toffee, sweet malts, with weak hints of alcohol. Hides alcohol very well. Very complex. A bit too biting carboration for my taste.

From 750 ml bottle at the Montreal YeHa! 2005. Light, bright amber with just a touch of head and little to no lacing...quite alcoholic and hot even in the burnt-molasses aroma...plenty of sugar to leaven the alcohol burn, but still this is pretty harsh and the caramel and dark bready yeast doesn’t hold the booze in check...some burning tires here, some meanness, some raunch...it’s a rough one, but I got through it...barely.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
For some reason this one surprised me, perhaps from the glitzy little bottle, but I really enjoyed it’s elegance, smooth texture, overall balance and warming. It really does not have a signature of anything that stands out in particular, just a pleasant malt sweetness and fruitiness, hops to back it up, some yeast esters. I was very sad that it was only a 8.5oz bottle.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2006 Clear deep red with a thin white covering and a sweet fruitish aroma. Taste is sweet and malty and the alcohol is there but has a slightly tart finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smells sour, alcoholic, sweet and plump raisin. Looks a full brown with a fine, tiny eggshell head, and leaves nice lacing. Tastes like usual scaldis, very strong alcohol, multiple malts, with a finish of hoppiness and a full mouthfeel. Has a flavor and finish almost of a scotch or bourbon liqour, dry and hot. I taste very little fruitiness, the alcohol really dominates this beer. Oh, wait. It gets better as it warms up. A nice vanilla-yogurt-berry sweet flavor is coming through, and the alcohol is receding a bit. Make sure not to serve this one too cold. Not my favorite but definitely in the low 3 range.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cool little bottle. Murky, ruby body with a good sized creamy biege head. Sweet, dark fruity aroma. Some alcohol scents. Fruity flavor with a nice little tangy bite. Full bodied malts, fruits and allcohol. The 12% can be detected throughout but does not take anything away from this beer. Couple of these during the holidays and you’ll be feeling nice. Enjoyable beer.
