3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle
This was an interesting beer to try after a few months of careful cellaring. Perhaps this season I will pick up a four pack of my own to sit on and drink one every three to four months. Beers like this are what more brewers should be doing with their Christmas seasonals rather than just dropping in some spice and calling it quits.
Aroma / Appearance - The amber brown body retained a nice head for a few minutes until about half the glass was gone. Only then did it gain a homogeneous fluid appearance.
The nose was sweet with hints of spice, sugar, and other fruits. Six months has treated it well.
Flavor / Palate - The booziness is only a minor component but evident enough that I consider it a slight flaw. Otherwise the malty sweetness makes this a drinkable winter warmer that will keep you busy for a while. Balanced for such a high gravity it probably could take a few more years on the shelf and still come out an excellent product.

1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Het is voor mij een mysterie wat er zo speciaal is aan dit bier. Het is erg dun en zoet zonder iets van een afdronk, alsof er slechts suiker vergist is. Zwaar over gewaardeerd bier

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a cloudy light reddish amber. Small fizzy, wispy white head. Nice malty aroma, sweet, caramel, dark fruit, spices, sugar. Medium body. Flavor is like the aroma but a little less pronounced plus a good deal of woodiness. Lightly syrupy, soft, alcohol shows up in the finish in particular. This was ok.
