4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle of the Scaldis Noel Premium. Thanks to Phillymonksman for this one in honor of the birth of his great nephew. A cloudy and murky brown color with a rich lather foamy light brown head. Sweet dark fruits and nicely spiced (cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves) aroma. Lively and dry on the palate with a smooth nut and plum flavor. Warm but hides the 13% abv well.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep copper color with two fingers of tight bubbled eggshell foam. The nose is subtle but round with sweet toasted caramel malt, touch of apple and warm spice. The palate is big and round with a huge toffee burnt sugar profile that is heightened by some yeasty esters, cola, pine, alcohol heat and a touch of grassy bitterness on the lingering finish.

Vraiment surpris. Superbe bière. J'aime pas trop la Bush ordinaire. Mais celle ci est vraiment bonne.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12% bottle from Ohtsuki Saketen, 2009 vintage. An opaque brown pour with minimal head. The aroma is potent, boozy, fruits, slightly musty. The taste is musty, sweet, caramel, figs, plums with some burn as it goes down my throat. Iíd like to try a fresher bottle to see if that is also musty or not but pretty good. As you sip it other flavors kept being revealed, surprisingly complex. Definitely worth trying out. As it warms up the musty flavors fade away and caramel & spice come to the fore.

dark amber colour, moderate off-white head, which disappears quickly; aroma of malty sweetness with some fruitness and spicyness;taste is dominated by maltyness/candy sugar with some minimal fruittyness and intensive alcohol; less complex than the premium version, but, anyway, really good belgian strong ale

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of my favorite Christmas beers when I can get it. Orange copper colored. Brown sugar and spices in the nose. Christmas dark fruits - dates, raisins. Taste has lots of spices, dark fruit, port wine, bread, yeast. Nice and complex mouthfeel, fairly heavy.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Coffee District in Delray Beach. Snifter. Pours a cloudy orange-brown with thick two finger white head. Aroma of fruit, booze, metals, and bread. Taste is really lacking depth. You get very little fruit, light sugars, bread, light spice and caramel. Not well balanced. Boozy. Medium carbonation. Meh.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear deep reddish amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread with a bit of booze and underlying light spices. Flavor is similar with bread and booze throughout with growing spice through the beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep caramel color with a fizzy whitish head that dissipates quickly. Caramel aroma with notes of dark fruit, clove and a bit of alcohol. Subtly sweet malty flavor with more hop character than I was expecting and a warming alcohol finish.
