Cloudy amber with a small off-white head. Complex aroma of wine, tannins, and berries. Sweetish flavour dominated by the oak, with vineous alcohol warmth. Tannin tartness in the finish

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Maria (9562) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 25, 2008
It is red-brown (most red) with a small head. Wow, the aroma sweeps me off my feet. It is vinous with notes of fruits (dark and lighter ones), a light sourness and vinegar (like in the very best sour beers), a light sweetness, malt and raisin. The flavour has sweetness and a pleasant sourness, notes of wood, red wine, fruit, raisin, figs, grapes, malt, caramel and light citrus. The balance is unique, this clearly is one of the very best Belgian beers I have had.

750 shared by Marcus and I at Delerium. Bottle is 2008 Cuvee Special. Pours a dark amber with a decent beige head. Aroma has notes of oak and apple. Sour notes. Body is full and carbonation is fairly strong. Flavor is dark malt, and somewhat plummy sour. Malt is present to offset the sour. Becomes a bit vinous. Sour disappears with time. Changes. Goes really smooth in less than half an hour. Great beer.

Corked bottle @ UDRM, Oirschot. Cognac and tropical dried fruit in the aroma and flavor. Fruity and lemony notes with brandy. A big beer.

Bottle. Poured a hazy brown with a large frothy light brown head that was fully lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex spice, fruit, yeast and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture with soft carbonation. Moderate yeasty sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Very well done.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Koelschtrinker (8474) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 1, 2011
Intensiv hefiger Antrunk mit übertriebener Alkoholigkeit. Dies überrascht, dennd as Bier ist ansonsten eher mau und zeigt, abgesehen vom Antrunk, keine weiteren intensiven Aromen. Minimal nussig, hier noch wenig hefig. Schlichter Abgang mit wenig Süße. /9/9/9/fl/9

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2009 Bottle... C&P’sLYFO Throwdown... Cloudy, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is a bit muted, but I’m able to pull pleasant, toasted notes of caramel, wood and red wine out of the glass. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet, boozy, caramel flavor with sufficient bitterness to prevent it from being cloying. Additional, vinous notations of red wine and medium sherry. The lengthy, lightly bitter, mildly boozy finish dries out at the very end. Big thanks to miketd for bringing this beer to the Throwdown!

courtesy of Pascal Sauser - cloudy brown colour, little beige foam; very straight notes of wood; vinous and with a touch of vinegar; some astringence, sweet and full-bodied; acidic and quite aggressive; sweetish woody and malty caramleish aftertaste - deeply lacking of subtlety and without complicity between the beer and the cask; definitely needs some ageing
