COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the Brasserie Dubuisson’s renowned Scaldis Prestige, Scaldis Prestige de Nuits is aged in oak barrels for six months. But Prestige de Nuits is made of Scaldis Noel aged in Bourgogne barrels from the world famous "Nuits St. Georges" vineyard. The result is an ale of extraordinary complexity and depth.

Bush de Noël, ripened for 7 months on wine casks from Burgundy (Nuits-St.-Georges).

courtesy of Pascal Sauser - cloudy brown colour, little beige foam; very straight notes of wood; vinous and with a touch of vinegar; some astringence, sweet and full-bodied; acidic and quite aggressive; sweetish woody and malty caramleish aftertaste - deeply lacking of subtlety and without complicity between the beer and the cask; definitely needs some ageing

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2009 Bottle... C&P’sLYFO Throwdown... Cloudy, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is a bit muted, but I’m able to pull pleasant, toasted notes of caramel, wood and red wine out of the glass. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet, boozy, caramel flavor with sufficient bitterness to prevent it from being cloying. Additional, vinous notations of red wine and medium sherry. The lengthy, lightly bitter, mildly boozy finish dries out at the very end. Big thanks to miketd for bringing this beer to the Throwdown! Video = http://homepage.mac.com/maltajo/RATEBEER/iMovieThe

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2009 Bottle from the Otown throwdown. miketd rocks and rolls. Hell yeah this is good shit. Amber/toffee color pour wtih a small light head. Aroma is yeasty, malty, fruity, vanilla, wood, and some light funky notes. Flavor is great. Sweet and tart mix wonderfully here. The red wine notes are in harmony with the sweet fruits, caramel and malt. Nice, damn damn nice!

750ml, expensive as_, bottle. Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of wood, grapes, cherries, oak, vinous, and slightly funky. My 6.5 year old wanted to smell it and without prompting told me it smelled like grapes. Tastes of cherries, oaky/woodiness, vanilla, caramel, and some fruitiness. Alcohol content well hidden with a nice smooth and easy to drink body.

Bouteille: Amber coloured, some floaties visible, stable and lacy off-white head, very complex nose: wood, bretttg, toasted malt with fruity-vinous traces;solid sweet-bitter flavour and full bdied; lingering dry bretty-woody finish, sweet fruits again detectable. What a fine stuff…

Finished a bomber of this fine unique beverage, in the very glass it was designed for. Thanks for sendng both BelgBeerGeek. Pours a blackish cognac coloured body with an initially notion only of a head. The aroma is rich wine (it was aged in such for 6 months), and the taste is secondary to this Belgian ale, with some chocolate. Special though not extraordinary special.Above average mouthfeel.

(bottle, 75cl) Hazy, amber colour with a short and tanned foamy layer. Moderately sweet and slightly sour dark malty aroma with vinous, almost Tawney-like fruity and woody notes, accompanied by caramel, hints of cellar and shades of alcohol. Moderately sweet and delicately sour-tart flavour, full bodied with a smoothly carbonated mouthfeel. Mildly toasted malty taste with loads of vinous berry fruits on a woody background; sweet and delicately bitter finish with vinous, slightly acidic fruity flavours, vanilla and a well-integrated alcoholic strength. A very pleasant barrel-aged strong Ale. 26.XII.12

750mL celebrating my best friend’s first house buy and my 5400th rating. Pours hazy deep red, fizzing out larger beige foam. Almost oud brune wine barrel in the nose with sharp acid cutting head retention. Decent bourbon or rich oak nose but sharper red wine barrel funk. Taste is still on the sweeter side, but there is mild oak spice and red wine blackberry flavor. The sweet tomato and near bourbon character is never overpowering. Palate is effervescent, mild warming alcohol, cinnamon spice. Mild lactic balance. Really good. The real deal.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2012 Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival 2012. A bit unclear amber colored brew, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, lots of alcohol, some sourness, spicy as well. Pretty sharp and spicy. Fizzy carbonation, medium body. Not my thing.

Bottle. Dark brown and red with a small head. Aromas are toffee and spices with oranges. Floral with fruity sweets. Peppery alcohol. Flavours are sweet spiced oranges with burnt toffee malts. Vinous red wine character. Strong but not aggressive alcohol. A bit unbalanced but still good
