Aging in oak barrels for 6 months gives this beer an uncommon smoothness and richness.

750 ml bottle- Thanks Poisoneddwarf- Pours extremely hazy golden with thin off white head. Aroma is brett, very citrusy, barnyard funk, extremely complex. Taste is funky, fruity, a little overly malty, dry bitter finish, oaky, a bit too boozy.

As the Bush de Nuits, another great beer from Dubuisson! Hazy amber colour, with almost no head. Smell is alcoholic, with wonderful nutty notes, and wood too, almost a liqueur. Taste is also nutty, sweet, fruity, raisins, wine notes and woody tannin. Great. Full bodied, absolutely. Amazing beer.

Sample @ Great Arkansas Beer Fest. Amber pour with a lively white head. Nose is pretty interesting. Candied apple, ribbon candy. Earth shag tobacco and wood. Flavor of over-ripe red apples. Toffee crisp. Rich nuts. Slightly tangy port and wood. Some oxidization. Lively carb keeps this from being flabby and arduous. Interesting.

Kveldens siste p Julemandag i annen des-14: her kom julenissen!

Part of RateBeer Top 50 Belgium challenge. From 750ml into Julius glass. Nice deep amber beer with a good head on its shoulders. Beautiful pack with a bottle necklace label. Punted. Immediately you can smell the barrel sour. The most amazing thing about this beer was restraint: Ive gotten used to sour beers that are SOUR - its the dominant flavor characteristic and hard to consider the rest of the profile. This beer had sour with restraint, balanced in a big way by a barleywine-style sweetness and a lot of nice complexity. The other amazing thing: 13% but felt like 7%! How did they do this? One of the most sophisticated and beautiful beers Ive had, which is why its an almost perfect score in my book. This is a wine snob killer.

Bottle, 75cl, 2010 vintage. Ive been sitting on this bottle for some time (not literally, obviously). Pours cloudy, dark orange, sparkling, decent foamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, oak, butter and vanilla, dried orange, touch of alcohol. Body is medium, pretty foamy to start with, touch of carbonation, drying. Taste is smooth and malt-forward, semisweet, plasticky oak, fabric plaster smokiness, some acidity, a bit of sharp alcohol in the finish, breathy aftertaste. Decent, a touch too drying for me.
