Grovlam (2906), Copenhagen, Denmark May 15, 2008 Bottle 75 cl. Vintage 2003. Huge off-white bubbly head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Heavy particles in flow with a lovely golden – amber color. Aroma of raisins, prunes, yeast, toffee, grain. Very Port Wine like with heavy vinous notes. Also wood and vanilla notes from the oak. Nice spicy underlying feel as well. Very full bodied with a lively carbonation and smooth and at the same time dry alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with mild bitter and acidic notes. Lingering alcoholic and fruity / spicy finish. Excellent beer.
gunhaver (541), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle, courtesy Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Dark, hazy copper pour, big creamy white head, with spotty lacing. Sweet, ripe fruit in the nose, peach, pear, apricot, caramel. Zesty, some spicy yeast. Flavor has some slight mango, clove, banana, heavy malts, brown sugar, smooth spicy feel, with hops in the finish. Yummy. Very smooth and very drinkable. ABV is very well hidden, dangerously even. Very unique and very great. techcommdood (2), , New York, USA does not count Jul 14, 2008 Absolutely stellar. The other ratings have done this fine beer justice in their descriptions, so a big "ditto" here from me. Davecooks (1128), Bay Area, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottled. Aged three years at 55 degrees. Pours a burnt copper color with a huge ivory head. The carbonation of this beer is unbelievable... the beer appears speckled with all the sediment and carbonation bubbles. Oaky and fruity aroma (TONS of raisins). Slight biscuit notes. Leathery, bourbon flavor. More raisins, some grape notes. Very port-like in it’s flavor. Caramel notes as it warms. Somewhat sweet but finishes very clean and close to dry. Some alcohol warmth at the end. weaselkenievil (282), Cheshire, England Jul 7, 2008 Yet another kind gift from Mes. Smells like a tramps wet dream. Sediment at the bottom of the glass like dandruff on a geography teachers collar. Awesome. Really sipable for the stength. You can taste the wood, I don’t mean like in porn. Cracking. Belter. Ansset13 (120), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Jul 5, 2008 This maybe the best ale I’ve tried to date, but that comes at a steep price of $50.00 a bottle. The pour is a fine hazy amber with a small eggshell colored head. The aroma is rich and complex with some coriander, sugar, yeast, and oak being prevalent in its scent. The Flavor is smooth balanced with touches of maple sugar, butterscotch, smoky oak and many other more subtle touches. A great ale, and highly recommended when one finds themselves with a fifty spot and does know what to do with it.
