Very unique ale. Sampled at Oldsmar Tap House. Aroma is that of a scotch or whiskey--very strong aroma actually--the barrel-aged oak gives it a dinstinct smell. The flavor is at first similar to a whiskey/scotch, but then goes down smooth, almost like a cider in aftertaste due to the low abv compared to a scotch.

Fairly large sample from 750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99. This one pours a hazy amber color with a large beige head that leaves sporadic lacing. The aroma is rich malty, caramel, fruits (peaches, apricots,...), yeast, and alcohol. The flavor is big in many ways: big caramel malt presence, big alcohol, the oak does subdue some of the Belgian character and smoth things out. There is still the yeast and Belgian spices. This is a top notch beer.

Bottle 75 cl. Fantastic aroma of a good cognac. Small rocky off-white head with spare lacing. Sparkling and cloudy amber/orange body. Light hop aroma of oranges, heavy yeast aroma, heavy in alcohol, nice aromas of peach, pear, apricot cask wood and honey. Spiced, fruity and fresh.

2008 bottle. Hazy dark amber, medium to thick head. Spicy aroma of cloves. Fruity almond flavour with licorice-ish finish. Nice body. Great beer.

Really nice bottle! Big thanks to Bananaman for sharing this! Pours a hazy orange colour with a nice white head. Aroma is a bit oaky, with some dried fruit and spices. Alcohol is noticable, but in a good way. Slight note of whiskey and cognac? I don’t know, but it was something that popped up in my head. Probably because the high ABV, it’s almost like smelling a "finer" spirit. Flavour is oaky, fruity, spicy with notes of sour apples and vanilla. Overall this is pretty, or no, VERY sweet with slightly sour notes. The alcohol is very integreted in the taste - it’s easy to drink though the high ABV. Also here it reminds me a bit of whiskey and cognac. It also reminds me of Orval a little. Mouthfeel is pretty filling and good. Smooth. Nothing outstanding though. Drinkability is quite high, or eaven dangerously high. I thought it would be harder to get down, but it was easy to drink despite 13%. You definitely need to be on your guard when drinking this. Overall an intressenting beer, even though I expected even more due to the high price. It’s not really worth the money.

(75 cl bottle from Systembolaget, thanks deft!) On September 19, 2008. BB end 1011. Nice klucking sound when pouring, gets a 5 for sound! High pressure in bottle when removing cork. PArticle filled copper color, fluffy off-white head. Fresh, sweet, malty, some almond paste, alcohol scent. Sweet, spicy, yeasty, aclohol taste. Alcohol, bitter, sweet aftertaste. WArming alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
