3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle (75 cl) from Systembolaget, shared with gnoff, deft, and a non-ratebeerian dude. Clear amber, medium off-white head. Raisins, figs, burnt sugar, some red berries, and a strong burning alcohol note. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation. Could have been very good at abv 8 %, but this is just too much alcohol, too little flavour.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Comes as "Dubuisson Scaldis Ambrée Refermentée". Pours a hazy deep golden with floating impurities and a tall and lively off-white head. Aroma of overripe fruit, caramel and alcohol. Very full-bodied with yeast and overripe fruit - even some cognac accents that lead to a burning alcoholic finish. Somewhat raw and unrefined. 311008

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy brown with an orange hue. Large, fine, frothy, off-white head. Fizzes away rather quickly, though. Aroma is nice, toffee, raisins, viniousness, yeast, some vanilla. Highish carbonation, wonderful oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, lots of malts, rye, wheat, caramel, balanced viniousness. There is still some good fruitiness in here. A mix between pineapple and plums. This is more or less a Belgian Barley Wine. Good, but still a bit fresh.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. [Tasting session @ Papsoe, 31-10-2008] Huge impressive ever lasting head. Excellent display of lacework. Light cloudy amber color with particles in flow. Aroma of solid nutty, caramel and dusty floral notes in combination of yeast and fruit. Over the palate came warming alcohol, sweet profile of fruit, toasted malt, caramelized, hazelnuts, and walnuts. Full bodied with an average carbonation and heavy alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with a hint of bitterness. Lingering warming alcoholic and nutty finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
750 ml bottle caged and corked. Hard to believe this only has 3 ratings. Poured amber with lots of floaties. Medium light beige head that was somewhat fizzy. Moderate alcohol aroma with yeast and a little fruit. Flavor is pretty alcoholic as well with yeast, fruit and a touch of bittering hops. Sweet at first getting more dry after the swallow. Slight medicinal. Good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very lively carbonation to good, cream-coloured, collapsing head over hazy red-amber beer, UFO-riddled. Warm alcohol nose, cookies; slightly iodine-shellfish aroma, and very roasted, as a roasted cake, flambéed with brandy. Alcohol, honey, amber malts, almonds and old hazelnuts. More roasted bitterness (restrained) than hoppy, but no burnt notes, no Maillard. Slightly medicinal, estery notes, and especially dried apricot, especially retronasal. Very creamy MF, despite the beer being alleviated by the constant carbonation, much livelier than the filtered version.
Overall: The creamy, yeasty MF and flavours completely change the data for this beer (brewery reps give an actual +1% ABV minimum), despite the apparent kinship.

At the KBW in Vichte (B). A hazy amber colored beer with a beige head. It disaprears rather quickly. The aroma is sweet malty and spicey. The taste is bittersweet, spicey and some nuts.
A very good beer.
