Pint at the brewpub, 6/25/08. Pale golden amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. Bready, floral, and lightly herbal aroma. Bready malts with a firm and fresh floral and herbal bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, juicy mouthfeel. No Kai’s Helles (at least not my memory of it) but a decent lager.

[958-20071212] 650mL (w/ GregClow, w/ him, blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, tupalev). Slightly skunky straw aroma with a bit of smoky flower petal. Hazy, light orange brown body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Some floral grass in the flavour with a sweet aftertaste. Light-medium body is thin. Interesting, in the non-smelling way -- Average.

Bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev -- courtesy of GregClow. Pours a nice looking clear gold with an average size lasting white head. Aroma of Saaz hops, caramel malt and some sweetness. Flavour follows the aroma but is a tad disappointing, it’s a little watery and could be more flavourful. Nothing bad there though. Average bodied. A pretty good version of the style.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, jerc, mabel and tupalev - my bottle. Bright, rich golden with a good sized white head. Very nice noble hop aroma with a bit of sweetness. Crisp body. Flavour is good, well balanced and tasty, but a bit light and slightly disappointing after the great aroma. Still, a nice lager.

Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc, mabel and tupalev, GregClow’s bottle. Cloudy light orange with a decent off-white creamy-fizzy head. The aroma reminded me of sun-heated fresh-cut hay, sweet grain and mild floral hops - seemed quite fresh. The taste was quite simple - honey-toasted cereal grain, with a very light kiss of grassy/floral bitterness. Frankly, the body seemed a touch watery, but the carbonation was there, if light, and there was a soft astringency to it, before the too-quick finish. No linger - oraftertaste - and quite refreshing.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, GregClow, Mabel, and Jerc, courtesy of Greg. Dark golden yellow, decent sized white head. Good aroma - a nice and interesting mix of saaz and earthy hops. Good taste - light malt, fresh, light to medium body. Nice hop linger. A pretty good example of the style and very drinkable.

Bottle. Crisp yellow with a small white head. (3+) Lightly earth, wet dog notes in the aroma, mild noble hops. Light pale malts and bitterness throughout, hint of lemon. Too light and a bit bland, but ok. A decent interpretation of a modest style.
