3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mgermani (936) - Vancouver, - MAR 5, 2009
Pours a beautiful lightly hazy ruby-brown with a light ring of foam and a touch of lacing. Aroma is rediculously wonderful: fruity, buttery (very buttery!) Tastes excellent - fruity malt, spicy hops, buttery finish segues into hoppy aftertaste. Remarkably well-balanced. Light in body and carbonation. I can’t wait to try more from Bushwakker!

Pint on tap at the brewery pours a lovely ruby amber color with a small white head which leaves very few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is very light toasty malts with some light fruits and hints of winter spices. Taste is a grainy malt sweetness with hints of fruit and winter spices and a light spicy hop finish. Medium to heavy body and soft carbonation. This is a well done barley wine style ale which is recommended to try when it is available.

(650ml bottle) Courtesy of Paco. Thanks Sean! Very toasted vanilla aroma with some egg in the background. Spicy, ruby, toffee, warm whiskey and an artificial caramel popcorn. Deep mahogany colour beneath a yellow, creamy head. Smells like the taste is off but its pretty good.

Bottle, thanks for sharing Todd. Toffee aroma,
some artificial butter, a bit like a stale Danish, dark sugar. Pretty chestnut, fine carbonation, golden lace. Roast, sirupy, heather honey. Medium body, feel light initially, but gives way to a whiskeylike burn. Strange spicyness, quite intreresting.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 CapnCascade (116) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 4, 2009
Bomber purchased at the pub in Feb-09. Pours clear copper-ruby, moderate white head with some lacing. Malty and slightly raisiny nose, flavour is mostly spicy hops with hints of tree fruit. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side but not at all unpleasant, a nice Winter Strong/Barleywine hybrid. Pleasant and interesting if perhaps not a contest winner.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2010 Fluffy head on dark red amber. Aroma of light mint, rum and dark cake. Better mouth feel and taste. Still has a weird minty edge. Light fruitcake flavour and slippery alcohol feel. A fair amount of subtle dark spice in the finish.
March 2009 5/3/4/2/8 2.2 Bottle. Red brown. Thin partial head. Light thin fruitcake scent. Minty mediciny mouth wash beer.

Tap. Sweet malts hit the nose immediately. Light fruity notes as well. Full and rich of flavor. Heavy malts, lightly floral in my opinion as well. Soft on the palate but not weak. Well balanced for a stronger brew. A shame this is only around for Christmas.
