Bottle from paco - thx dude. Openly I am not a fan of bocks or dopplebocks so we will see how this goes. Deeeeeep dark red with a large bubbly tan head that has some life. The aroma still seems fresh even though my bottle says bbf Dec 31, 2010. Raisins, brown sugar, toffee, sweetness, light roast, sweet fake cherry, bread crust, chocolate undertones, marzipan? The chocolate gains strength when warming. Tasty stuff even if I don’t totally dig it. Burnt sugar, medium roast, light hop bitterness... very light, weak pepper, quite rich. I also get the odd sourness, which is mild but obvious especially on the finish. Sticky mouth feel. More soft spices come through as I drink. This is a pretty good beer - I’m surprised that it’s growing on me. I do not like thick, strong db’s. This one has the required smell and taste without being overpowering. Satisfying belch in so many ways.

presario (4133) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 6, 2010
Bottle. Decent head on dark brown liquid from which you can coax some red highlights. Dark chocolate toffee scent. Complex wild mix of flavours. Chocolate, anise, pepper, dark toffee notes and a weird sour yeast and spice finish. Gets more comfortable as you progress.

OKBeer (1168) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - OCT 27, 2009
12 oz from tap at the brewpub, 6/25/08. Dark amber brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. Malty aroma of bread and toffee. Bready, fruity, and toffeeish malts with an earthy bitter finish. Full bodied warming mouthfeel. Not unpleasant, but a bit underwhelming.

Boutip (3458) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 24, 2008
Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists mainly of deep caramel and toffee malt. Taste is also a mix between some medium sweet caramel malt with notes of toffee. Full body with limited filtration and good carbonation with no discernable alcohol. I would have like more banana ester but still very well done and easily quaffable.
