Trephination Double IPA (8.5% a/v OG=1078 ibu=100+) The hoppiest beer in the history of the Bushwakker. Big citric hop flavour and plenty of malt backbone

Bottle. Big head on very dark hazy amber. Big strong hop nose. Big slap in the face alcohol punch followed by kick in the nuts from the hops and then the alcohol steps on your head. On to sip two. Dry, dry, dry hops. Sandpaper, citrus and malt. One of the hoppiest beers in Canada I’m sure. A dry chewy hop beer. Extreme to say the least.

Bottle, from paco via trade-- thanks Sean! Deep orange, orange tinted head. Aroma is very sweet, with heaps of aromatic peachy hops, some papaya. Syrupy sweet malt backbone, with ripe tropical fruit hop character in abundance, lots of papaya, some peaches-in-syrup. I’m not getting the magnitude of bitterness I expected for 100 IBUs, but I’m not complaining. Nowhere near the bitterness in Half Pints Humulus Ludicrous. This is a sweet, syrupy malt driven DIPA in the spirit of the Charlevoix series of beers, with a similar hop profile to Paddock Wood’s Loki. Tasty!

Rating from July 2010. Thx paco. Deeeeeeep amber and lightly hazy, small bright white cap and bubbly sticky lacing that clings above the film on the surface that lives on. Mmmm! Very malty aroma.. sweet malts, thick caramel, almost more malt than hop which is working for me. Very very malty - sweet. Sweet citrus as well - oranges, nectarine, rrgf that is hidden, peaches are the biggest - I like this! Has a 50-50 split of hops and malt for flavour. Caramel, peaches (not strong), pine, rrgf, candy and pepper all contribute to the massive hop breath I got now. Big hop finish and a bitter burn of medium length. Medium bodied. Good beer!

Surprisingly good beer out of Sask. I’, very impressed. Normal looking with its reddish brown body and small tan skiff, some not so bad lacing was left behind. Aroma has a huge hit of sweet caramel malts with some spice and my favorite peach hops where very aggressive. Taste was a lot of the same, high end peach style hops and thick sweet malts. Brew was awesomely malty but I know some people don’t like that in there IIPA’s but I do. High quality brew they didn’t cheap out on it, good job Bushwakker!

Pours a hazy golden brown colour with a big beige head. Aroma is of citrus and floral hops, sweet caramel malts and an almost banana like scent. Taste is sweet and then filled with hops, quite bitter, very nice. Medium-full body, thick creamy mouth feel and average carbonation. Overall an enjoyable beer, good double IPA.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown color. Lots of lacing, Aromas of sweet caramel and brutal hops. Hops and some alcohol taste, with some sweet caramel in there too. Brutally bitter and unforgiving. I can’t get enough of this.

Served on tap. Light brown (dark golden?) beer with a small head. Sweet smell of citrus and floral notes. Initial taste is quite sweet, finish is very bitter, and long lasting. EXTREMELY hoppy. This is a hophead’s dream.
