3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, - FEB 13, 2009
A Mes rate: gravicask at Battersea Beer Festival A darkish golden brown with a thin off white film topping. Fruity malt dominates giving plenty of sweetness. Something quite green and leafy about it too. Quite and interesting beer with an unusual fruity and herbal finish. Sadly what it has in interest, it lacks in balance. A pleasant enough drink though.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 13, 2011
Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury. Mahogany colour. Caramelly nose. Sweet with medium body. Mildly hopped with plenty of buttery caramel. Low bitterness. Buttery caramel is not my thing.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 12, 2011
First tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in March 1994. Cask, gravity dispense. Superb clear orange russet colour with pale amber highlights.
Treacle toffee note in the long intense aroma. Creamy and rich mouthfeel with excellent lacing. Pale malt base gives a moist maltloaf flavour with cinder toffee, soft caramel and sweet marmalade jam. Slight prickle of weak hop resins noted in the short aftertaste but sweet treacle toffee notes predominate in the strong robust malty finish. Really impressed with this ale and it tastes far stronger than the og suggests. Tastes more like a Scottish ale and in some ways it is very similar to Cairngorm Wildcat . A lovely session ale.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Stephanos (863) - NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 15, 2011
Tasted at Southampton Beer Festival 2006.
Slightly cloudy teak coloured beer with a hoppy aroma. Initial citrus flavour leads to a malty body with a tart hoppy and malty aftertaste with a hint of toffee.

Cask at the Battersea Beer Festival, 12th February 2009. Quite ’leafy’ with lots of botanical/plant flavours. Aroma ditto. Hazy amber appearance, ok palate.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2009
Cask gravity at Battersea BF 09. Amber, lasting bubbly beige head. Buttery rubbish. Not a good bitter.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 downender (4387) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2008
Cask-conditioned at the Castle, London 16/10/08. Deep amber with no head. Sweet, caramel and dough aroma with a hint of woodiness. Flavour was full, with a vinous edge, plenty of sweetness and some fruit, leading to a bitter finish. Good.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 imdownthepub (7473) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 31, 2008
Cask conditioned at Barons Bar, Southport. Dark amber with white head. Slight sewagy nose with a slightly sour flavour running through the beer. Sweet, a little syrupy, yeasty. Not really to my liking, but I could see what they were trying to achieve.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 maeib (6632) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2007
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Rugby BF. A dark brown coloured beer with a bit of a bubbly off-white coloured head. The aroma is rich with bready malts, fruit and a touch of molasses. The taste is also full. Malty and fruity. Bready. Hinting at sweetness. Very very clean and full of flavour. Quality and lovely and a rare 4 for me for a Briutish cask ale.
