Cask at NWAF, 2013. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Fresh aroma- chocolate and raisin. Crisp clean taste. Not bad.

[cask at SIBA GNBF’11, Manchester] Black pour with a decent creamy white head from the sparkled festival. Roasted malt aroma – some slight salty bitterness on the nose maybe. Quite smooth and creamy, the oysters are in there but don’t make much of an impression, nor does the expected chocolate flavours. It’s perfectly drinkable however, just unfortunately not very exciting [28102011]

Ash roast coffee and caramel smell. Dark red in colour with light tan head. Thin watery body. Taste is light and very watered down. Earth, dry fruit and malt. Too thin.

Cask handpull, The Borough Arms, Crewe. Ruby with orange reflections under a slimming tan head. Good roasty nose with coffee and slight butter; maybe a sniff of running shoe. Thin, flat and mildewy with some insubstantial finishing roast and nuts. Reluctant coffee dribbles. Damp and empty with no oyster and no authentic stouty character. Limpet stout. Heading back to Brum and Nuneaton for some decent brew.

Hand pulled at the Jolly Crispin, Gornal. Extremely soft, but satisfying stout. A bit watery perhaps, but drinkable and balanced.

Cask at the GBBF 2008. Black colour, dark brown in the highlights. Pleasant fruity and roasty aroma with a breath of sea air. The flavour has a moderate and smooth roastiness with a distinct fruity acidity at the side. The oysters don’t come through much though.

Cask at GBBF 2008 Poured very dark brown with little off white head. I get some curly wurly bar, creaminess, nice maltiness and an undercurrent of coffee. This is easy drinking and uncomplicated the bitterness is fine, its an ok beer.

Dark brown with tiny off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, chocolate and caramel notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee and caramel notes. Ends dry and bitter. Nice.
