Tasted this full bodied mild at the Troon Beer Festival in September 2004. Cask, gravity dispense. Ruby black in colour with a thin creamy white head. Good full aroma of chocolate and raisins. Creamy texture to the mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a complex range of flavours with roast coffee, milk chocolate, hobnob biscuits and juicy raisins. Slight hop prickle noted in the short aftertaste. Finish is rich and robust with syrupy dates and warming port notes. A superb mild that tastes like a strong 5% old ale - excellent and worth trying to find.

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’11. Dark brown with tan head. Dark roasted malts, some coffee hints, a touch watery and quite an odd flowery note, presumably from the hops. Easy on the palate though and drinkable enough.
