Fresca e profumata...si perde un poco nel palato. Il colore richiama l’ambra. Schiuma leggera e debole. Buona da gustare in estate

Bottle. Aroma: straw, butter, yeast. Pale colour, cloudy. Light sweetness, light bitterness, but not the one that comes from hops. Soft carbonation, medium body. Original, uncommon, a bit strange, but a bit unbalanced. I prefer the dark one.

Hazy liquid, bubbly head. Aroma: lots of vegetable and fruit, some bread. The taste is pretty sour. Light to medium body, watery finish. Weird but not interesting.

Swing top bottle. Pale amber color. Hazy. Creamy buttery aroma with floral notes and a hint of hay. Doughy sweet flavor with floral notes, buttermilk and hints of citrus. Dirty but somehow drinkable.

Tap at Snekutis old town. Deep cloudy golden orange color. Nose of speculoos, cinnamon, bread. Spicy, bready flavor, lemon or sweet orange, rather tangy with lactic/ butter edge. Somewhat thin and almost flat. Interesting.

Light haze on this amber beer, good off white head. Palate is smooth and lightly dry with mild fine carbonation. Smooth malt and slightly tangy citrus. Traces of herb and spice. An ephemeral nutty tone and some lager character before a neutral finish. Interesting beer.

Bottle (at Bambalyne). Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (wort, raw grain, coffee), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of celery and butter. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, raw/husky, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft/flat carbonation. Here we have an example that seems to define the vast bulk of Lithuanian craft beer. Raw/worty, diacetyl-laden, and lifeless carbonation, although this one lacks the infected sourness that plagues a great many. These seem to be the characteristics beer drinkers seek out here, since they are so prevalent, both on draft and in bottle. Despite trying a couple dozen more beers, I only took notes for about 4 or 5 since they were all depressingly the same in this regard.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2013 Bottle rating. Cloudy medium-light orange, you can force a head if you pour vigorously but it dies in under a minute. First smell is a strong odor of boiled carrots and cabbage, DMS and diacetyl galore! There’s also a lot of raw grains and wort smells (light caramel syrup, grain husks, soggy bread). Has a similar grainy, raw flavor with abundant buttered carrot and some strange tropical esters and phenols. Medium body, sweet throughout, low bitterness and low acidity leave it lifeless, flabby and limp in the mouth. Drying, watery, un-firm finish. Are all Lithuanian beers this undercarbonated and (seemingly) under-fermented? I ask because the combination of sweet grains with low acid and low bitterness feels completely off, very unpalatable. Even without the obvious diacetyl and DMS this would be a plain, raw, worty grain stew of a beer.
