3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Douberd (625) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 13, 2013
330 ml stubby bottle at home, poured into a big Guinness pint glass. Minimalistic label. Bottled on 20/12/12. ABV 6%, 2.15€
Very nice colour, deep orange golden, with little activity in it and a big, white, soapy head on top. Quite good head retention and nice lacing around the glass.
Aroma is malty but with lots of hops notes as well, upfront the Styrian Golden and more on the back the Saaz ones. Not bad, although a little faint.
Wow, nice bitter taste from the moment it touches the tongue. Quite hoppy, and a bit of malts too. It becomes a little bit more bitter on the aftertaste, with long duration too.
Medium thickness on the body, average carbonation. Very dry palate.
Overall this was a great beer. I would say it’s very close to an english style IPA or ESB, very good.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 sebletitje (5416) - Enghien, BELGIUM - APR 28, 2013
Bottle sample @ ZBF’13 shared with the RB Belgian crew.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JorisPPattyn (7306) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 28, 2013
Small whitish head leaving lacerings; fully hazy orange-amber beer. Hops - crude EU hops, in serious doses. Old bread. Again oxydation in the flaovur, old bread, oxydized hops, short of cheesy. Quite slick, meidum bodied, well carbonated feel. Disappointing. If one aspires to make IPA, use real IPA hops, not bl**din Be bittering hops.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2013 where it was sold as an IPA. Hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nose is a bit stale, light hops, touch fruit, light sweet BE yeast, hint of spice and dust,… Taste is equally lightly dusty and stale, bitter herbs and grass, light hops, bitter floral and lighter sweet BE yeast,… Body is reasonable but carb. Is touch too low. Its okay.

Bottle at home (april 23, 2013) Hazy golden orange with frothy white head. Lots of bubbles in the glass. Aroma: not much. Some earthiness, citrus and honey. Slightly grassy. Taste has a earthy bitterness, watery, bit of ctrus and grassy notes. Quite thin mouthfeel. Aftertaste of pilsner malts, kiwi and rubber. Low carbonated. Maybe fresh better.
