COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
The West Country’s favourite beer derives from pure Mendip Spring Water ... notably bitter, clean tasting, refreshingly dry, distinctive, and moreish! Made with 100% best Maris Otter Malt, together with a blend of (never divulged) traditional English Hop varieties. Butcombe’s only beer for the Brewery’s first 20 years, and now bottled to celebrate winning the Silver Medal at the Great British Beer Festival 2009.

Bottled, 500ml from a small shop near Baltic Wharf Camp site, Bristol. Amber with white head. There is an initial flavour of sweet toffee, caramel with a light metallic note. Sweetness continues but along with an earthy hop note. Not as enjoyable as the cask.

500ml bottle, pours heavy amber / brown with a small head leaving a lacing. Malty nose, bready, bit of caramel, cardboard, hop flavours not really singing but lots of bitterness. Had some nice beer from this brewery on cask, this one is pretty average though

Brown. Sweet malt aroma. Malty, sweet, hint of toffee, sweet bitter finish with hint of lemon. Not as good as the cask version.

Bottle. Light brown, little head and carbonation. Aroma of malted orange tea. Taste is a tempered bitter preceded by a toying fruity sweetness. A decent, moreish bitter. To be honest though I prefer the cask version.

Bottled. Dark amber in colour, loose head. Light aroma. Easy drinking ale, nothing special but pleasant.

Philym (701) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2013
Appearance: Clear copper with 2 finger ivory thick head. Aroma: Nutty, chocolate malt, biscuit, grassy/hay and pepper. Taste: Medium sourness and bitterness, low/medium bitterness. Palate: Thick smooth texture, light body, average carbonation, lingering astringent, peppery malty finish with subtle marmalade notes. Comments: Very good and glass lace.

An amber ale. With a malty pepper aroma. A bitter taste slightly malty. Not bad.

Mid to dark brown coloured beer with a thick off white head. A light fruity hop aroma is matched by a maltiness. Dry mouthfeel. A dry maltiness is soon matched by a bitter pithy fruit hoppiness. The hoppiness lasts into the finish. Bottle tasted at Old Malt House, Radford near Bath, Somerset. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
