3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
It was kinda ironic that as I drank this I watched on TV, Michael Portilo the former politician visit the Burton Bridge brewery to showcase their contribution of IPA in the world . This beer i was drinking was not an IPA . I seem to say that alot with UK beer. Not an IPA in the American way or the old skool Burton bridge character. This beer looked attractive ,big beige head and orange’ish base. Notes of chewey caramel ..musty apple ester..some vanilla and a roasted nuttiness. Citrus hops . Just dull but ok and nothing to do with IPA.

Cask, Kings Head, Carlisle. A dangerously drinkable 5 percent-er! Really pleasant flavour, lovely malty full flavour, russet-red appearance, fresh hops detectable in the nose and a lovely smooth finish. Mighty good.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber-orange with an off-white head. A dash of lacing. Hoppy aroma; pine, a bit of citrus and remote candy-like notes. Fruity notes as it warms, taking over from the hops and becoming more tart berry-like as warming progresses. Malty flavour with hops mucking about here and there. Slight wooden notes and a bit of fruity notes as well. Dry finish with a lingering mild to medium bitterness and notes of grass. 05-12-09.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
50cl dark brown glass bottle. Color of this IPA is cloudy amber, very small light beige head. Appealing aroma of oranges, hops and some malt - characteristic of IPA. Hops are also prominent in the flavor, again with citrus fruit notes. Medium bitter finish. Eminently drinkable - a very good, very typical IPA style beer from Bristol.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Hazy, amber colour with a short slightly beige foamy head. Citrus-fruity and woody hoppy aroma with moderately sweet cara-malt in the background. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, almost medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Good pale and cara-malty base with fruity hints (citrus, pears) and a drying out hops character towards the sweet-bitter finish. Easy going Ale (09.VIII.09).
