Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Tomer G. Clear deep golden-copper. Aroma of earthy hops, a bit of minerals and malt. Sweetish flavor with malt, a tiny bit of caramel and some earthy hops bitterness. Medium-bodied.

50cl bottle. Clear brown, filtered with small to medium white head. Nose : caramel, grains, some nuts. Fruity banana , orange and peach. Watermelon. Sip : low density , oily texture with tingling carbonation. Little sweet cake, with interesting bitter taste. The bitterness is a good balance between delicate coffee and dominating grapefruit. And I must confirm it’s easy to drink. Great blend. It’s a big shame it’s just so little alcohol in it.

Half pint. Copper colour, very clear. One finger head which the beer retained well. Light corky soapy hoppy smell. Very bitter, light smoky fruity aftertaste. Medium mouthfull. Overall ok but not world class.

tombyars (1316) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 12, 2011
Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in March 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear red amber in colour with a thin creamy white head. Clear dusty hop in the short aroma. thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Digestive biscuit malt with citric fruit notes of lemon and orange peel. Dusty hops give a big presence in the resiny aftertaste. Finish is well robust with strong malty overtones. Excellent session ale.

Very pleasant Premium Bitter on cask @ JDW Moon Under Water, Manchester. Met a guy called Kevin whose well knows all Spoons staff on first names in Manchester, he recommended this to me. Huge malty backbone to this, backed up by Goldings Hops. Dry, big body to it, fruit, caramel possibly in there. Lovely beer.

My bottle (500ml) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus. Pours a clear golden-orange with an average size frothy off-white head. Aroma is sweet and grainy along with caramel malt and not really much hops to speak of. Flavour of caramel malt, grain, very light hops and an average bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not what I look for in an IPA but it’s reasonably well made.

Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Poured a clear golden copper with a lasting, medium sized off-white head. Citric & floral hop profile with a sharpish, tangy edge and a light earthiness. Fair, crisp bitterness in the finish. Quite bright on the palate, light to medium body, medium length bitterness. Seemed to struggle to hit any heights but a drinkable ESB though a bit too chilled & dulled in that Spoons way.

500ml bottle shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Clear amber, bright, small frothy/creamy off-white head. Smells like an ESB - sweet grain, floral and fruity. Taste is pretty solid - chewy floral grain, solid low-level vaguely herbal bitterness - very grainy, hardly any alcohol (7-). Chewy, fairly thick body, mild carbonation, a well-balanced grainy/floral finish, slightly overly sweet in the aftertaste: clean.
