COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available bottled year round.
Originally released as a special as Brunel 200 IPA for the Brunel Birthday Celebrations in April 2006.

Brunel and his fellow engineers challenged our sense of what was possible, and in doing so changed the face of the world. Brunel IPA is a clean tasting, dry and hoppy, authentic recipe India Pale Ale. Amber in colour, full bodied with a bittersweet finish…perfectly engineered!

Bottle. Poured flat and clear. Bitter and not really an IPA as it lacks hoppiness. Not bad though and comes with a rather pleasant label.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2007 Clear reddish pour (eventually), replacing the madly foaming pint of milky whiteness. Took the barmaid a full 10mins to tame this one. Dusty grapefruit hoppy and aromatic, with a hint of graininess and intensely bitter finish. Tangy bitter orange with fresh bread in the afternose. Juicily fruity and quenchingly bitter. Lingers very pleasantly with a fine hoppy-yeasty-malty balance. Very good indeed.

Cask (handpump) at The Pig & Fiddle, Bath. Gingery colour. Certainly not a hop monster but there’s plenty of robust, spicy, earthy hop character in a British style. The mouthfeel is quite smooth. Whilst its clean and crisp, I felt it could use a bit more bite and attack. Still pretty decent.

Cask Conditioned, at the William Shakespear, Holborn. Light bollion gold colour, extra bitter flavour. Descent but not spectacular, at a pub not famous for well conditioned beers but a JDWS that produced its share of ticks. Would like to try it in better condition.

Bottle. Bronze/amber colour with a slim off-white head. Earthy hop aroma; smells like an IPA, good start. Tastes like one as well. Hops throughout, some malts, dry with a bitter finish. Smooth, creamy and medium to full bodied. Very good.

Cask Handpump at the Cheshire Ring, Hyde 11/02/2006 Bronze golden coloured with some floral aroma. Pale hoppy and creamy on the palate with a bitter dry finish.

Pint pulled at The Railway in Putney (London), clear amber with a small but thick and creamy white head. A well combined malt and hop aroma, with the floral hops slightly dominant. A good bitterness and dryness all the way through the mouth (not to strong)) with a subtle hoppy flavour.

Cask stillage @ The Freshfield Hotel Formby 2006 Beer Festival/ An IPA showing some of the strength other so called IPA’s lack. Dry, hoppy with a bitter aftertaste. Full bodied despite being pale in colour. Very moreish.Strongly Recommended.

Cask conditioned @ Humble Plumb, Soton. Fairly fruity earthy hop aroma with some sulphur - personally I could have done without this. Enough malty body to remind you of the strength with a refreshing hop finish.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. This beer is on Wetherspoons spring list of guest ales, so should make its way round to everyone. Copper colour with thin off white head. Good earthy hop. Warm malts in mouth with touch of chocolate. Smells like an orchard in autumn. Lots of good white flesh fruit, earthy bitter, drying hop finish. Very tasty. Full in mouth with heavy dose of Fuggles and Goldings on the end.
