COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A refreshing golden bitter brimming with character…not to mention citrus hops and fruit. Made with 100% Maris Otter malt, and brewed using a single variety hop…English Fuggles. A malty fresh vitality gives way to a full bittersweet finish…pure Gold!

Plain and simple, sure and steady. Decent but unexciting pint. Flavours gentle hops and medium bitterness.

Hand-pulled pint in the excellent ’Railway Buildings’ on Codsall railway station: 17 Nov 2012. Cracking looking beer: bright body of golden amber colour with a good head that stayed the distance as the beer level slid down my UK sleeve glass. The aroma was thin and although there was a mini-blend of malt and hop notes there wasn’t enough to pick out any clear smells to pontificate about. The taste is a well balanced mix of semi-sweet maltiness and a woody, nutty feel with a mild hop bitterness under the surface at all times and rising towards the end of each sip. Pleased I found a cask version: thought it might be better than the bottled one and I was right.

Cask at golden lion bristol. Fairly basic bitter, not much hop flavour to speak of. Just ok.

tombyars (1204) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 12, 2011
First tasted this in Gabriels, Paisley in November 1999. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear gold in colour with a thick white head. Sweet golden syrup in the intense aroma. Resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts deliver a rich digestive biscuit malt with golden syrup and lemon peel sweetness. Slight introduction of floral hops in the short bitter aftertaste soon gives way to warming mead like flavours in the moreish finish. A robust golden ale and a perfect alternative to all the bandwagon IPA’s out there.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2011 Light amber colour. Wheat and lemon smell with some nut. Very smooth. No bitterness. Sweet apple tart that moves to a watery mid and a bready sweet malt finish. Little acid aftertaste Yum!

Cask @ The Old Crown, Kelston nr. Bath. Med gold. Served impeccably fresh with bright and balanced aromas and flavors. The malt character is totally solid and blends well with the friendly, leafy hops. Absolutely sessionable.
