A pleasant surprise at the British Oak and a pleasant surprise to see it rated so highly. Well done them. How would you rate a beer called ’The British Oak’ served at the British Oak brewed by Joshua Tetley? I didn’t order it cuz I was wondering how I’d do so. The Prince in Moseley has a load of such brews regularly on tap. Anyone?
3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 McNeillR (289) - SCOTLAND - MAY 14, 2013
Light golden flavour, loose bubbly head. Over eggy nose nose, thought someone farted. Cool and crisp initial taste, minty pepper lemony glaze. Gritty tickle mouthfeel with a sound dry peppery finish.
Pints of this outside with the smokers all day and I’d probably not notice the nose and a really sugary dry 7 Up finish would take precedent.
Cask, Bon Accord, Glasgow

Cask conditioned handpump Moon On The Square Northampton 14/06/12. A blonde beer with a white head and lace. A good hoppy beer. Nice sherbet notes. Lemony. Nice and fresh. The nose is particularly welcoming. Doesn’t develop those hops as much as you’d like in the mouth but it’s still tasty.
