wheresthepath (216), Buckinghamshire, England Jun 19, 2008 [on cask at Nag’s Head, Reading] Malt, red fruits and some green leafiness, but far too bitter for my tastes and with an odd sourness in th background that made me feel vaguely ill. Found this very hard to get through, and not a patch on the Hampshire Ironside I’d had just before. fonefan (4333), Ulfborg, Denmark Jun 12, 2008 Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008. Clear medium yellow orange color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light roasted, moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finsh. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (030508) Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England May 7, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at Reading Beer Festival. Bright golden with an maber hue and a thin white rim. A straight forward but very endearing beer. Eathy malt,, slight tobacco and plenty of citric hoppage. Excellent bitter finish. Sessionable as hell. Good stuff. Doppelganger (1114), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Sep 21, 2007 Gravity, Far From The Madding Crowd. Copper, small skim of white. Distinct apple aroma--a little biscuit and candy hops hang around in the background, but apples firmly in the fore. A fresh, pleasant apple character; doesn’t seem like an off flavor. Lightly tart apple flavor, nice try toast. Light, but not watery. A nice little ale. downender (1521), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England May 9, 2007 On gravity at Reading BF 5/5/2007. Amber coloured with decent white head. As the other comments have mentioned, this left a big impression for a relatively weak session bitter. There were plenty of hops in both aroma and flavour but these were balanced by the biscuity malt. Not a beer to get tired of.
