HughConway (261), USA May 17, 2008 Bottle. Not much for aroma. Pours amber with an off white head. Decent beer, not very imperial.
nearbeer (1334), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 12, 2008 650 ml. Clear copper with a small but lasting cap. Some sticky lacing is left behind. Aroma is dirty, overripe banana and orange rolled in caramel and resin. Flavor is the same except more resin, fruit, grapefruit and dirty, vegetal tones. I usually like beers that I would describe that way, but the flavor combo in this one just doesn’t do so much for me. Medium body is smooth and dry. Dogbrick (2266), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours a rich amber-orange color with a medium and frothy off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine resin and hops. Medium body with a moderately bitter hoppy character that has notes of pine and citrus. Some malt in the background too. The finish is hoppy with caramel malt undertones, and a lightly spiced hops aftertaste. Above average overall, however it falls a little short in the IIPA distinction. Beer_Hawk (759), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle shared by Springslicker. Pours orange with a thin off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aromas of grass, vegetables, with a hoppy background. The flavor has caramel and citrus hop backing. Medium body, light bitterness. Not as impressive as the 10th Anniversary. doubleo (842), San Diego, California, USA Oct 2, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours amber with a thin, offwhite head, specks of lace. Smells malty with caramelly dark citrus hops and some alcohol. Tastes malty sweet with caramelly hops, some citrus, some bitterness. Full body, ok carbonation. Ughsmash (3082), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 23, 2008 Bomber. Poured medium golden with a short-lived cap of eggshell head. The aroma showcased floral hoppage over a pale malt base.. grassy notes and honey were secondary.. rich sweet undertones of caramel and some light fruits.. smelled syrupy and heavy, but rather enticing. The flavor opened with tangy floral bitterness and lightly medicinal/metallic sourness.. warm caramel and pale malts washed over the middle in a smooth fashion with scratchy bitterness on its heels (in the form of peppery spicage and floral notes).. overall bitterness was low-moderate.. finished with a hit of citrus sourness and alcohol warmth. Medium-plus bodied with a few instances impeding the flow.. felt a little past its prime.
