2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Deep red color with a white head. Decent lacing. Malt first type of barley wine with a nose of dark fruits. What holds this one back is itís lack of flavor up front other than a caramel sweetness and itís harsh alcohol finish.

Light bronze in color. Aroma is of poorly extracted malts and big alcohol, manure, hay, vitamins & minerals. Flavor is nasty, with some dirty, manure like flavors.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bomber. This beer seems to be pretty close to the middle of the pack for beers named "Train Wreck" so Iím looking at it with a bit of trepidation. Pours clear coppery amber with a thick and lacy off-white head. Soft citrus, peach, toffee and grass aroma. The taste is not quite as rewarding - and more in line with the name. The taste starts toffee sweet, but hops are all over the place, and quickly stomp all over anything thatís going on with the malt. Herbal, perfumy, maybe with a little plastic? This one just doesnít work for me.

Hazy amber brown beer with an off white head. Semi dry and semi soft palate. An odd barleywine. Salty with bitter astringent citrus that doesnít overwhelm. The mid is tasty with malt and fruit but the back end is all bitterness. Beer was best when pretty cold and the bitterness was supressed.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours darker amber with a quick off-white head. Nose is floral hops, maple syrup and lots of booze. Bizarre flavor: a strong, almost chocolately malt sharply changes to bitter hops on the back without either developing properly. Not a good combination. Alcohol is also unhidden and makes for an unpleasant finish. Sub-standard for such a well-regarded style.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
pours the color of petrified amber with little to no head. bare aroma of malts, some slight brown sugar. Typical barleywine flavor, though rather thin and undeveloped, followed by a cough syrup alcohol sensation and unpleasant hop bitter burning. Rather underwhelming, unfortunately.

clear dark chocolate, scant head, light phonelic aroma, hot caramel malt flavor, strange hop balance, lots of sweetness in the finish, needs a better choice in hops,
Aroma: 4/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 5/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 10/20

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Deep ruddy amber beer. Slightly sweet rich toasted malt aroma. Chewy sweet, caramel and toast with a soft toffeeish character as well. Fairly dirty and rancid backnotes behind the otherwise solid malts. Well-named, really.

bomber 07 Vintage. Shared with Cyn after grading for me and coding for her. A reward of sorts. Pours copper orange with a tan head that faded to a ring. The nose is sweet and relatively light. Taste is sweet, but bitter way way too bitter for me. taste is hot and not so nice, it ainít a 52 percentile for nothing, this barleywine is severly flawed. Oh well...
