Deep dark brown with huge espresso/smoke aroma. Nice full wintery flavor, darn near stouty. This rocks.

Just polished off two kegs of this at home this winter. Good Stuff. I wish you all could taste this fresh and on tap. It is dark for a brown ale, but the sweet and roasted malty taste is well balanced with some hop bite. I think it should be "Year Round Brown" instead of Winter Ale. Oh well, Spring Ale will be out in March.

I wasn’t expecting too much here but I was pleasently suprised. An deep nutty and caramel aroma. It poured a dark brown with a moderate beige head. The flavor is a bit on the bitter side but it does have a good malt profile. I taste chocolate, fig, raisins, and nutmeg. The aftertaste is also somewhat bitter. Wow this was a very good brown ale and one I would recommend for some session drinking

Deep brown color with a modest head and fair lace, the body medium and the carbonation moderate. Nose is a toasted grain, the middle slightly sweet, the finish is hop bitter and somewhat dry. Robust yet clean, and quite drinkable, another winner from this most exceptional brewery.

Very nice dark malt, kumquat and slightly sprucey aroma -- at first strong but then fading. Good dark brown color with bone-colored head. Fun label. Mellow hoppy bitterniss over a nutty, dry brew. Some greenish flavors -- unripe nuts, slight grassiness in the very bacckend before the finish. Silky mouthfeel, longish mellow dark bitterness. A very good brew indeed, perhaps augmented by being my first of the evening.

beer pours a lovely deep reddish/brown with a light tan head that retains well and leaves good lace. nose is primarily of malt, with caramel and chocolate overtones, along with some earthy hoppiness. flavor follows the malty theme, with the chocolate notes more pronounced in the finish, along with a nice hop presence. the beer is quite well balanced and easy to drink.

Strong chocolate and coffee flavors, with a nice dose of hops and alcohol. Reminded me of an Imperial stout, very enjoyable on a cold evening.

Bottle. Molasses, chocolate and roasted coffee aroma. Opaque dark brown color with small head. Dark chocolate and smoky coffee malt flavor with a mild hops finish. A nice, full flavored brown ale.

pours a dark blood red color, nice thick foamy head, malty grain aroma, kinda sweet with a little bit of hops, the taste is very zesty, tart, with good hop presence and very smooth and rich.

Mostly clear and deep red with brown; big and foamy head lasts. Fresh and toasty nose. Smooth, soft and creamy texture. Mild notes of aromatic chocolate, roasted toffee, toasted bread and brown sugar. Nicely balanced. Grassy hops with a hint of spicy orange. Decent bitterness. While it didn’t smack me in the face with flavor, it was a real pleasurable beer to drink. I’d surely have another.
