4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Gusler (2654) - Tucson, USA - NOV 9, 2000
Roasty and toasty nose and a nice semi-sweet Porter dry slightly hoppy finish. A middle of the road Porter, if you like Porters give it a try.

Very dark browm with an ample tan head. As everyone before me has said. Wow, that’s roasty! Malty sweet with a lingering smokey roastiness. Good mouthfeel, soft on the palate.

Poured dark with big head that when I blinked, was gone, bastards. First tatse was like a light port. Chocolate finish. Let it age, baby. I have one in the celler.

poured dark and very bright ruby red under the light with a thin blanket of small off white bubbles..a roasty aroma, toasty at times, with notes of burnt raspberries & molassis..pretty light palate upon which roasted & toasted malts are laid..light notes of caramel and burnt toast..dark plum and burnt fruits...not too shabby...

Toasted and roasted aroma on this one. Dark as a dark tower. A nice roasted caramel body to it, not overbearing and quite decent.

Dont know if its just my bottle but this beer had a hop nose that a APA would be jealous of.a nice amount of roastedness but mainly just a hop monster. Maybe not true to style but I like it!

I like the aroma of roasted malt and malt sweetness. Color was nice too, a rich very dark brown almost black. Flavor wasn't as near a good as the aroma. Something was missing. I would have liked it to be a little more creamy and roasted.

An interesting dry hoppy feel to this. Doesn't really feel like a typical porter. It was OK, but not very good for the style.

Courtesy of Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA. For some reason I just could not derive a lot of enjoyment out of this Porter. Poured a ruby/black with a thin light beige head, with minimal lacing. Aroma is very toasty and maybe had some hops too. This is definitely one of the driest Porters I have had. Some toasted caramel but this is too far on the dry side for my tastes.

The alcohol appears to come through a bit. Toasty, roasty - as befits the style (did they add Liquid Smoke to try to create a rauchporter?). Very dry and hoppier than some.

Similar to the Pale Ale - good representation of the style.
