One of my favorite styles of beer, normally subtle but bold. This was a bit drab, strong flavor but mostl tart and fruity, no real depth. bu11zeye (5715), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Cask at Manhattan Cask Festival. Clear pale gold/straw colour. Aroma is fairly spicy with a soft character of bubble gum, honey, and clove. A bit of apricot fruitiness as well. A light touch of acidity in addition to the nice sweet yeastiness. Throws quite a nice minty character as the temperature comes up. Fairly lean body that would be even more lean if it was bottled and highly carbonated. A bit of cotton candy/marshmallow. Flavour is decent... could be dryer, but that’s a minor quibble. It’s more Belgian ale than saison as it lacks the earthiness that I think typifies the style, but it’s quite nice nonetheless.
