COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout beer pays tribute to the Butternuts Brewery’s former life as a dairy farm. It’s a more drinkable version of the Stout breed than its heavy, boorish and smelly European sisters. We use lactose sugar for body and mouthfeel; not too strong, not too viscous at 4.9% abv. Unlike a true bovine it has a malty, roasty aroma and a dry finish but no tail or teats, and leaves no unsightly cow pies laying around the yard for you to step in.

12 oz can, courtesy of corm44 on BeerAdvocate. Thanks!! The pour is a medium to dark brown with a ruby showing through with a decently thick light tan head that falls down quickly leaving no lace. The aroma is is sweet. There's a lot of lactose up front. A good roasty malt character really dominates the nose. Small amount of cocoa on the back end. The flavor is all roast for the first half. A light sweetness pokes through, and then there is nothing. The mouthfeel is really thin. Dark water. The carbonation helps a little, but it's just really thin. The aftertaste is a little roasty with a touch of sweetness, and vanishes quickly. A very light sweet stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with a foamy tan head that dissipates quickly to a ring and a patch. Sparse lacing. Nose is malty with notes of milk chocolate. Taste is balanced, leaning to the bitter side. Pleasant. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Decent brew, but nothing special.

A gift from Maxbier, poured into a stout glass. Pours dark black. Aroma is chocolate, and roasted coffee. Flavor is similar and very good. Palate is a bit watery, could be creamier. Pretty good stout

Gift from Maxbier. Pours black with a dark tan head. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate, coffee, minerals , and smokiness. Flavor starts out sweet caramel malt with roasted smokiness, some chocolate and vanilla flavors and finishing with roastiness. Lingering sweetness.

Straight from the can. Aroma is pretty sweet. A little roasty. Taste is pretty smooth with a weird ending that was all the roasted flavors. Pretty thin and very carbonated.

Can. Roasty, metallic with a little lactic sweetness. Drinkable but that's about it.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2014 Pours dark brown with light head and little lacing. Smells of toffy and malt. Light on the tongue, but decent roasted flavors linger with no discernable alcohol. Very tasty despite abysmal rating to-date here on RB.

A nice milk stout, a bit thin. Pours a beautiful deep black with a white head. Smells of cocoa. Taste is milk off the bat, with more cocoa in the finish. Tasted at the BevMo Holiday Beer Fest.

Pour from can. Dark pour, foamy brown head. Roasty aroma. Medium carbonation, roasted malt flavor, some creamy smoothness from lactose. This is not malty, boozy, or chocolatey. This stout hits the mark dead on, for what it is set out to be (a roasty, malty beer, that is heavy in pigmentation only). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap, dark pour, tan head, nose is chocolate, taste is some cocoa, but watered down
