COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout beer pays tribute to the Butternuts Brewery’s former life as a dairy farm. It’s a more drinkable version of the Stout breed than its heavy, boorish and smelly European sisters. We use lactose sugar for body and mouthfeel; not too strong, not too viscous at 4.9% abv. Unlike a true bovine it has a malty, roasty aroma and a dry finish but no tail or teats, and leaves no unsightly cow pies laying around the yard for you to step in.

Not too heavy, not too light...it is what it says. The taste meets their style as described. I'd imagine some would say too watery...too light...but I would not. Nice coffee aroma when sipping. Hints of cocoa. Chewy immediately. Foams well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml can. Jet black colour with sma,, to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of toffee, coffee, a touch of liquorice and malt lozenge. Taste is slightly dry, roasty dark malty, minimally metallic, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, hints of liquorice, subtle hints of lactose, bitter hoppy finish. Not much sweetness, but quite beefy and variegated. Definitely underrated.

Can @ The Butcher Block. Not sure why the low rating, i’m very picky about my beer, and this was delicious! Not the richest but it was heavy on the malty, dark chocolate & roast flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My go-to summertime stout. Light bodies but super roasty and chocolatey, mega crushable all year round.

Pours deep brown with medium beige head that leaves some lace and skim. Pleasant nose of nuts, coffee and malt. That’s what it delivers in the glass as well, along with milk chocolate. This is lighter than I expected, presenting more as a porter. The brewer’s blurb concedes this point, attempting to distinguish Moo thunder from "heavy, boorish and smelly" European stouts. The slur is unnecessary, but it’s not a complaint to call this a porter, as it is smooth and drinkable, controlled in all respects.

Pours black with small head, nice creamy palate if perhaps a little light. Very good stout base with slight bitter earthy hint to aftertaste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can, from Whole Foods Market, Piccadilly, London. An Easter gift off the missus, in lieu of a chocolate chucky egg. Clear, chestnut brown. Thin, lasting, lacing, light tan head. Nose is milk chocolate. Hazelnuts. Some caramel. Smells great. Taste is milky sweet. Some woody dryness. Smooth mouthfeel. Decent body for the ABV. Loses the sweetness on the finish, and gets light dry, and soft, earthy bitter.

Can at home. Pours black colour with a beige head. Nice roasty character. Milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Smooth and creamy texture. Not bad at all.

Pours a near black with a foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee. Taste is toasted malt with a dark subtle burnt finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin. The finish is dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Undated can. Nose soft roast, lightly acrid, milky, probably going to be sweet. Pours deep dark brown, opaque in the glass, large sudsy tan head. Taste semi-dry, light-medium bitterness, great mild medium roast that brings out wood and milk chocolate/cocoa, no scorch or ash, very mild acrid character, but generally quite pleasing. Sweetness accumulates, as does a faint mineral sharpness, lactose is there but admirably constrained to low levels. Alcohol shuttered out of sight, medium-full body, aftertaste a bit dirty, but I’d be fine having this again. [2015.12.26: 3.3]

Can. Poured a very dark brown with a generous frothy head. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, coffee bean. Medium bodied. Dry finish. Taste light sweetness. Roasted malt, nuts, cocoa. Not too shabby.
