This stout beer pays tribute to the Butternuts Brewery’s former life as a dairy farm. It’s a more drinkable version of the Stout breed than its heavy, boorish and smelly European sisters. We use lactose sugar for body and mouthfeel; not too strong, not too viscous at 4.9% abv. Unlike a true bovine it has a malty, roasty aroma and a dry finish but no tail or teats, and leaves no unsightly cow pies laying around the yard for you to step in.

Canned@GBBF2008. Deep ambery brown colour with mediumsized white head, that vanishes quite quickly. Aroma and flavour are both caramel malts, hops, coffee, syrup and some hints of wood. Lots of stuff in this rather sweet brew. Quite pleasant, but is a bit too sweet by itself "as is".

Can to cup. A pretty solid stout, very sessionable - which a lot of people seem to not appreciate. An attractive dark brown pour with a medium, off-white head. Nose of coffee and burnt malts. Flavor has some mild roasty bitterness and some chocolate and coffee notes. Medium-light in body and quite smooth. This beer was pretty similar to Guinness, with perhaps just a slightly more complex flavor profile. Very good.
